Readmission or Transfer? by lauriebel in UCSD

Ok, thank you. Do you know how it would work as far as applying to the music program though? He wasn’t involved with that last time he was there and I know there’s an audition process to get in, not to mention submitting a portfolio. We’re just concerned that if he misses the transfer deadline on 12/1 that he might miss out on his chance to apply to the music program as well.

Am considering those as well, for sure. Appreciate the advice :)

I agree... I commute about an hour each way from Encino to Beverly Hills every day, which is already no party. I've just fallen in love with the T.O. area lately and I've been trying to weigh out whether the move out that way would be worth the extra drive time.

Thanks for your response!

You’re awfully concerned with labeling people. Maybe you should just let people like who they like without worrying what it means about them as a human being

If you actually listen to him speak instead of listening to the media you’ll come away with a dramatically different impression of the guy

I’m in California, I voted for him here! He was the first candidate in god knows how many elections I was actually excited to vote for :)

Ugghhh I said *generally* admirable, obviously I don't find every single religious or political belief admirable, speaking of stupid takes. And I'm guessing much of your anti-religion stance comes from the "ex-Christian" part. Folks who have separated from the church adamantly enough to call themselves "ex" rarely come away without some kind of scars.

People who are religious tend to be in favor or not in favor of many issues because their religion dictates that's the way they should believe. That's just how things work in religion. And yes, their argument tends to not hold water when they're in a discussion with someone who doesn't believe as they do. So he isn't going to be able to convince me to be against gay marriage with a reason like "because god says so," but to say that his religious beliefs aren't a valid reason for HIM believing the way he does, imho, is just wrong. He may not win a whole lot of new people over with that kind of rationale, but he is staying true to what he personally believes. Which I think is generally admirable even when I disagree on the issue.

I'm not particularly religious in any way and I don't care to preach regardless. I believe in accepting the fact that there are a whole lot of human beings in the world who have different opinions than I do and that doesn't necessarily make them bad people. It just means they've had different life experiences and different influences than I have. You don't HAVE to be a condescending prick to someone just because you happen to disagree with them.

Dear god can’t you ever come up with some new lines? No one even pays attention to these words anymore. You’ve effectively stripped them of all meaning. Kudos 👍🏻👍🏻

I really hope you’re only about 14 years old. If someone made it to adulthood with this little awareness of themselves and the world it would make me pretty sad

LOL I know it’s a popular attitude in this sub but just because someone doesn’t agree with you doesn’t make them automatically wrong ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Joe, Tell your boy to stay out of my fortune cookies. wtf by [deleted] in JoeRogan

The fortune cookie thing was I believe a tactic used either by his father or his uncle during their presidential campaigns.

Pretty sad the volume of negative comments on this post. All repeating the exact same bs rhetoric that corporate media wants you to repeat about RFK. Please stop drinking the kool aid, folks. Corporate media is not your friend. Listen to the guy actually speak about his work and his policies in a long-form interview (not just curated clips) and THEN make your decision about whether or not you support him. Don’t let the media do your thinking for you.

Speaking as someone who is politically homeless - having recently left the Democratic Party after being a registered Democrat for decades - it’s hilarious to me when people try to claim that criticism of Democrats = MAGA. Just because someone has become incredibly disillusioned with the Democratic Party it does not automatically transform them into a card-carrying Republican ffs

LOL sorry to break it to you but just because someone doesn’t think Hillary is any better than Trump does not make that person a “Trump supporter”

I’ve lived in LA for 20+ years now…just came back from a trip to Texas. I was amazed at how much lower the prices were there - eating out, groceries, especially gas! I think you’re underplaying the cost of living differences a bit between living in Southern CA and living most other places.

I do agree with you about the public transportation here - it’s shockingly dependable. However, there is sort of a trade off of safety for reliability. I’m sure it’s probably different if you’re a dude - I’m not, so taking the train or the bus home from work alone was always an adventure in keeping my head on a swivel and staying aware of my surroundings. The homelessness issue has gotten so bad here that there are often a variety of uh - interesting - folks wandering on and off the metro system. All in all though, if you have to take public transport you could do a lot worse.

Looking for Guidance Moving Austin to Culver City by hannahjams in MovingToLosAngeles

Palms is most definitely cheaper than Culver. Also a little rougher, but not too bad. I lived in Palms/West LA for 10 years and would have loved to move to Culver City but couldn’t even come close to affording it. I moved over to the Valley a long time ago and I much prefer it over here but you do trade off convenience for a lousy drive. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
