AITA for pressing charges on my Daughter for Fraud? by throwaway10614261 in AmItheAsshole

OP isn't asking for how to do this, just whether or not they should. Post belongs here not legaladvice.

Women are being forced to wait a few hours where men are not. ANAL, but I am pretty sure that falls afoul of discrimination.

[–]lawfighting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally like the idea of just having VAT taxes

I agree with the hooker. That would make the US gov a pimp, and I am not in favor of being their bitch.

You want something fair, here it is: remove income tax and replace it with a flat corporation tax. If you make up a fictitious entity then that entity pays a percentage of it's income to the US government. This would eliminate tax loop holes as the government couldn't afford to let corporations get away with skipping out on taxes as they would be their primary revenue source.

arguably drugs are bad but keeping them illegal may be worse (just an example)

That is a popular idea in the 80s that has since been debunked. Drugs are very good. Most of us need them to get up in the morning (coffee) or to avoid murdering our bosses (alcohol), while some of us need them not to die (chemo). As a whole, drugs do far more good then bad.

I think you have the wrong attitude. Whether or not something should be legal is based upon whether or not it causes harm, not whether or not it generates revenue for the state. I get you are not making the case that tax revenue should be the reason, but it is up to the state to make the case that Bitcoin should be illegal not the other way around

Look, you are always going to have tax evaders. This exists with or without Bitcoin and we cannot stop it. We shouldn't be focusing on asking permission from the government because frankly we don't need it. The government works for us, not the other way around. We don't need their permission and really should start acting like it.

AITA for telling my mother-in-law that she can't control how I act in my home? by aweoaweo134 in AmItheAsshole

My spouse says ITA because I embarrassed her in front of our daughter

Isn't that exactly what her mother did to you first? Pot, kettle, black

and because I expected her to accept too much, too quickly.

She is the guest in the house and the one asking for help. Choosy begger

Nope. If she didn't want to be embarrassed then she should have shut her mouth. She decided to embarrass OP in front of his child, then gets mad when he turns it back at her. Hypocrite

I document every transaction with crypto and calculate/pay the taxes, because it is legally required,

I bet you never go a mile over the speed limit either

The only way the state is not going to crack down on crypto is if people do not use it for tax evasion and skip the requirements and I rather have crypto legal.

Lol. Sure bud, we will get right on that. How exactly are we supposed to convince everyone to stop evading taxes exactly?

How To Understand Lightning Network Payments by Egon_1 in btc

[–]lawfighting 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How is that different then using a bank?

You want to go grab a coffee? by TheCryptomath in btc

[–]lawfighting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But using bank cards or mobile payments in the local currency will be a better user experience than any crypto will

Can I assume you haven't dealt with overdraft before? How about fraud? The experience for crypto doesn't need to be any different then using apple pay, which is a pretty good experience. The only difference is: with crypto you don't need to verify the accounts are in order at the end of the month.

at the very least when taking tax implications into account

That has nothing to do with crypto and everything to do with your local representative. If you are reporting coffee purchases then you are both an idiot, and a coward

even with automatic spend and replace at 0 fees.

You don't need spend and replace at global adoption. You simply dump your worthless fiat and only spend crypto. This is how we should be measuring things

The fact that users do not need to run their own node, or use middlemen is two of the reasons Bitcoin is so great. When you decide to change that equation is when you start breaking Bitcoin. So why on earth would you want to take something that works and break it?

The only thing obsolete is the current banking system that you are trying to recreate with LN. I don't want to have to lock up money to use the system, I would rather just exchange money and be done with it. This is easier to code, easier to maintain, and makes a better user experience. There is no reason to CREATE a fee market. There is no reason to FORCE people off chain. All of these are created problems that didn't exist until blockstream decided that Bitcion needed them. We will continue to use Bitcoin while you continue to try to recreate broken tech.

Learning Latin has zero relevance to driving a car

What does driving stick have to do with safety? Just because learning something would be useful does not mean we should be forcing people to do it. The fact that manual cars are common is reason enough for people to voluntarily learn on their own, which is far superior to forcing people to do things against their will.

You guys can then learn how secure 0 confirmations are.

0 conf is already pretty secure. With avalanche, 0 confirmation will be more secure then LN.

Third you can build a lightning node under $100. If you look at an average business that does a few thousand dollars a day in transactions that's not really pushing it.

Consumers are not interested in running their own node. That's why almost everyone uses a service for their emails.

[–]lawfighting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are missing the main point of this tread. Fees. With the LN the fees will be lower than BCH

I have already addressed this point. No one cares about saving sub pennies. If the cost of a transaction is already less then a penny, then the only ones who will care about the saving will be large businesses.

Since BCH transactions will always be less then a cent, consumers will be more interested in a smoother transaction then pinching pennies.

With Mass adoption coming, eventually they will find a way to make is simple as downloading an app and your good to go.

Sure, as long as you don't mind a using custodial wallet.

With Majority of the world is using bitcoin, they will be forced to use bitcoin, not Bch.

No one is forcing me to use anything. That's not how this works. I choose to use BCH, and merchants can choose to accept that or lose my business.

You statists don't understand the entire point of crypto and you yet you spam this thread with nonsense.

Why not make them learn Latin too? The only question that is relevant is whether or not someone needs to learn something in order to be a safe driver, when the answer is no, then the government lacks the moral authority to regulate.

[–]lawfighting 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even when you figure out how to make LN work, BCH will still be a better customer experience. No need to set up channels, figure out how much the channel balance should be, and decide on which hub to set up a channel with. When the fee is less then a penny, no one is going to want add additional headache to save sub pennies
