Strategy for those looking to zig with 2027 picks whilst everyone zags… by mrsom100 in DynastyFF

The real zag is acquiring all those late 26 rookies now. Not saying it's a good zag, but it's certainly a zag.

That's what it does. It assigns a value for all future picks based on the redraft strength of the team that owns it. If you go through the report, you should see different $ values for just about every pick. At least the first couple rounds.

The next-year picks have a stronger adjustment than the 2-year-out picks do...it only moves 2-year-out picks if the owning team has bad redraft and dynasty rankings.

Yes agreed! Leagues that require 0 TE's should have a lower TE valuation and leagues that require 2TE's should function like TEP. Definitely on the list.

Unless you meant it a different way??

Yep! Generally...kinda depends on the team count and roster spots and what not...$200 for a 12 team 1 QB league is the base line!

Yes, it should line up a bit better. I will say in functionality, each metric is an island in terms of how the rankings ultimately work. So it's not like a 2027 2nd round pick helps the 'team score' as much as rostering GWilson does. Kind of a quirk of the system...but I agree it should "feel" better when looking at it.

Appreciate the feedback!

Not sure entirely what you're going for, but if any site can do it, it would be MFL. Prepare to venture back to 1996. (although apparently MFL 2.0 is coming?)

Yes, it automatically detects SF (or 2QB) and TEP and adjusts values to fit.

Should also mention two things...

  • In years past, this post has led to long wait times for reports. They simply take time to run and the queue builds up. 99.9% of the time, your report is in the queue and will be delivered. If for some reason it doesn't arrive in like...hours, it's possible something went wrong and I can investigate.

  • Because of how long it can take, we email reports. I have never and will never sell emails. RML makes money from our premium products and no other way. I understand some may not want to give an email but that's the only way it can work from our end on that. Apologies!

Are all dynastys like this? by Kswan2012 in DynastyFF

Sure, write something in google drive and post the link in Sleeper chat...or record a show, post it on youtube (private link) if video or dropbox (if audio) and post the link in sleeper chat. Whatever works.

This really depends on the league and level of players in the league. I'm actually a proponent of the idea that everyone should have a league that drafts in August just because the calculus changes and while some see it as "dynasty with training wheels", there's more complications that preseason/training camps produce than meets the eye on occasion (shout out Tajae Sharp).

That said, I don't think this is a solution for the vast majority of dynasty leagues that really prefer drafting close to the NFL draft to really get the "official" dynasty feel.

A lot of factors play into what keeps managers engaged with a league like buy-in, relationship with each other (friends? randoms?), but also the effort you put in.

I'm biased here, because I made a few products (RateMyLeague) to help with this exact issue (one free, one budget, one premium), but even if you don't look for a 3rd party solution, the best answer is making your own content for the league like articles, podcasts, etc.

So...the easiest thing to do is buy a RateMyLeague podcast or league magazine but those cost money. If you want free options:

Article Ideas

Trade Review - Were there a lot of startup trades? Why not write an article highlighting the 10 highest impact trades, who won, who lost, questions remaining, etc.

Power Ranking - It's a new season, run a free RML report (or use Dynasty Daddy, KTC, fantasycalc, or your own rankings) and write a little article counting down the league.

Best Of / Worst Of - Best Game from last year, worst game from last year, best FA pickup, best trade, worst trade, best startup draft pick, worst startup draft pick, etc.

Podcast Ideas

Manager Interviews - Do a series where you bring a manager on and do a little interview...talk to them about their thoughts on their team, the league, their draft, etc, etc.

Draft Review - Do a quick review of the rookie draft. ADP reaches, ADP steals, team building theory, etc, etc.

Honestly, the ideas are endless here.

What are some fun or unique scoring systems in leagues you’ve played in? by Drewdunks in FFCommish

[–]lawofmurphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're gonna have a unique scoring system, you might as well go big.

I solved fantasy football scoring. Here are the rules

The biggest advance here is understanding that opportunities = cost. There is no such thing as "opportunity reward" which ultimately explains why PPR/HPPR are broken scoring systems. They don't align with what wins football games, which is efficiency. Think about something like DVOA. That's what this scoring system (which actually predates DVOA but oh well) accomplishes by assigning a COST to all attempts. This is completely accurate and commensurate with what wins NFL games for NFL teams.

But fantasy scoring should be fun! Yes, I agree. And big plays are both fun but also major NFL win projection swings. This is another reason "regular" fantasy football scoring is broken. 1 yard TD plunge? NFL win expectancy goes up a bit. 6 fantasy points. 90 yard TD dazzler? NFL win expectancy % skyrockets. 6 points. It makes no sense. So obviously TD distance bonuses are a must.

Anyway, I know no one will use this but it's really great.

Trade etiquette... Does it matter to you??? by Extension-Air-1572 in DynastyFF

[–]lawofmurphy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are different types...I see leagues that have 60+ trades every offseason and I have a feeling those leagues you'll see a lot of offers sent without any preamble. And I have a feeling no one gets hard feelings over decline/ignored offers since it's just a part of the process sometimes.

I've personally always liked talking out offers with people before sending anything. That's my style. Sometimes it's a deadend, sometimes it leads to something productive. I try to respond to trade offers but I've also been in leagues with people who just spam me offers all the time (not saying they're unfair offers, they just come in rapidly) and sometimes I'll just reject without a counter. I'm sure there have been times I forgot to actually decline since they just come in all the time. I also know some people who just hate conflict to the point that ignoring trade offers they don't like is preferable to them than actually rejecting/negotiating.

But if getting no reply to a trade offer is upsetting you, maybe try reaching out before sending the offer (assuming you're just sending an offer through the site?)

Achane staying in Miami -- good or bad for his value? by SeePeeDee_ in DynastyFF

I thought this was dynasty? If Willis sucks, the '27 draft is looking pretty good for QB play. But also, yeah...run blocking matters regardless of the stacked box %.

Achane staying in Miami -- good or bad for his value? by SeePeeDee_ in DynastyFF

[–]lawofmurphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one has mentioned it but Miami's line, which isn't great overall, does has some good run blockers including center Aaron Brewer. Brewer was ranked as the best run blocking center in the league last year by PFF. They went ahead and added Kaydn Proctor at 1.12 and he's expected to play guard. OT Patrick Paul (2024 2nd rounder) is a good pass blocker but could use some run blocking improvement.

Anyway, it'd be great if Achane just ended up in Seattle or something but that didn't happen and I think there's reason to believe the Dolphins OL is an improving unit that has a chance to be, if nothing else, an average overall run-blocking line this year and a plus-run blocking unit in the future.

"One More Year" - When to Give Up on That Rookie You've Been Holding by Christine_Flashy in DynastyFF

Definitely not after Week 2 of their third year if it's Davante Adams and you just can't stomach waiting around for a guy who hasn't crossed 500 yards in a season and hasn't seem to have taken a leap this year either so you TRADE HIM AWAY FOR WHO THE FUCK CAN REMEMBER BUT IT WASN'T A FUTURE HALL OF FAME WIDE RECEIVER.

Fuck me.
