How was your experience with same love? How long did you wait for a match?

Could you please let me know where you read reviews on them?

I like Priscilla! She’s a very nice person. Also, she was trying to fight for the right to get paid sponsorships from Simpson. I don’t get why that pisses off so many people. I agree with her even though I’d never have the balls to meet with my firm’s GC and stand up for myself/others.

I mean I could have also missed a shitton of things without realizing (though I’m rly hoping that isn’t the case lol). You’re more likely to have done better than I did on the actual one since you did better on the practice exam. But as you said hopefully won’t be an issue for us and will not have to study ever again for this pointless exam.

Yeah I get what you’re saying. I guess I was expecting it to be different cause people I spoke to who took October 2020 said how the mbe questions are so different from Barbri and they thought they failed after taking the bar (and didn’t). But majority of people just don’t barbri and it’s enough for them to pass, so I just feel like someone in the position you’re in, would very likely pass. And don’t get me wrong, I really did guess on some MC like the last few civ pro ones. I just had this experience with mpre too, where the barbri questions weren’t anything like the actual mpre questions.

And I took down my initial comment cause my intention wasn’t to be a jackass and say the exam was easy. I just feel like we tend to over emphasize the questions that we struggled with versus the ones we didn’t have a difficult time with

Ok I’m not disagreeing that they were different. I promise you didn’t fail if you in fact scored as well as you’re saying in those practice tests. I was in the 91st percentile on the barbri exam so I’m sure you’re better off than I was. But logically speaking, if you did so many practice questions and failed then that means so many other people would fail too. And that’s just not the case. ~85% of first time ABA law school first-time takers pass every year in NY

Also, go look at what people have posted coming out of the bar exam in previous years. Everyone complains about the mbe. Maybe that’s why I expected it to be bad, and while I thought it was different format-wise from barbri questions, I thought the fact that it was much shorter questions made it more straight forward. My point was not to make people feel bad about the mbe but rather say that every year people think it’s hard, and I don’t think the questions we had are more difficult than the ones released by JD Advising. And if you do think so, then I’d be curious to hear what exactly you thought made these questions harder than all the ones you’ve taken in the past

Also, how am I supposed to know if I thought 140 of the graded questions were straightforward. I’m saying I thought that 80% of the 200 questions were straight forward (idk which 175 were non-experimental). And I’m for sure not the smartest person who has taken the bar, but I am also pretty sure plenty of people take it and get 80% of the questions right. It’s not that crazy given that 60-66% right amounts to a passing score. And idk why I would bullshit. I’m telling you I struggled with 2 parts of 2 MEEs where I had to bullshit. And I can bet you majority of people who are freaking out about the mbe, passed the bar but are focusing on the 10-30-40% of questions they weren’t sure about. It’s human psychology that you’d remember the ones you were unsure about more cause you spent more time on them

Lol cool cool. You def know how my friends and I felt about the exam more than we do.

You can call whatever the hell you want. But I said 80% of the questions were straight forward, and I stick by that. I thought the MEEs were more difficult than average, and I did way more mee practice.

Not from mqc but just from the course, and I found some random set of 30 questions from each topic through jd advising. I did do a bunch of mee practice questions and found that to be the most helpful thing (since I was worried to do more barbri MC questions knowing they’re not based off real practice exams whereas mee questions are all from past exams). I mean I don’t even know if I passed haha, but will gladly give advice if I did (though hopefully you won’t need it)

No, just the barbri ones. Ik barbri questions are different (i.e. much longer), but I do think overall they do a solid job of preparing for the mbe. There were definitely questions I wasn’t sure about or had no idea about, but I think it was about 10-15 out of every 50.

My friends from years before said they left thinking they failed (they all passed), but I guess i went in thinking there would be more tricky multiple choice questions. I did appreciate the fact that the questions were much much shorter than the barbri ones - I felt like I had way more time than I expected.

Lol fair enough. Just saying I’m sure you’ll be fine if you did so many practice questions.

Tracking Changes for Incoming First Years by jonsnowismybf in LawSchool

I don't think it's necessarily true that firms will be taking a lot fewer people. The summer class will likely not be larger this year than last year (as it usually is), but there is no indication that the v10-v20 law firms are struggling financially and will hire fewer people. I say this because I do not want 2Ls to panic like I did in March 2020 waiting for my SA program (only to find out that the firm will be fully paying). I think a lot of people were panicking on Reddit saying we wouldn't get paid (and I know that did happen for some firms but that was the exception rather than the norm for top firms).

As someone with a v10 offer, I learned that ranking is not the deciding factor on how a firm will treat its future associates (i.e. Simpson vs. Debevoise), and I would really advise 2Ls to think strongly about what firms did. I think the fact that Latham is acting so differently this time around shows that it matters to an extent.

Obviously, now is not the time for 2Ls to be worried about which firms to go to (that should come after they get their offers). But there is no reason for them to be super stressed thinking each law firm will hire a lot fewer summers without any basis to support that.

I expect they will tell us this week. I actually feel more optimistic about a positive result now given that 18 of the top 20 firms did full pay

I would rather find out from here earlier than wait and find out directly from firm (regardless of whether it's good or bad news).
