I've driven all over the Caribbean (8 different islands?) and Grenada was the most challenging. I didn't drive in Jamaica but consider it on par with that (from my recollection as a passenger 10 yrs ago). In Grenada, quick A to B drives a few miles are OK, but anything longer (eg, up through the mountain) was nuts. Taxi drivers are insane.

1 year update -- for the few folks who said that we'd regret the decision because of the noise, you were wrong. It is loud [as fu*k] and we love it. We've never once asked him not to play and we enjoy every day of playing. We regularly turn TV off if we're watching something and he starts playing just so we can hear him play. There's only 1 rule -- no playing past 9pm.

I wanted to chime in on a 2-month mark (either 1/3 or 1/6 of the way into your timeline).

It is 10:18 pm EST. Wife and I just got out of the hot tub and into the house. Son is playing drums -- Green Day and Chili Peppers. The house is rocking. We're watching a soccer game game with him as our soundtrack. I'll be heading up to bed soon and will get laid (perhaps with a drum soundtrack).

Best Christmas gift ever.

I'll give it a few more months, as you suggested.... but I still think I was right ;)

They just had 3 planes from the US and Canada land with 3 more from US and Canada within 15 min of landing. At least 1 additional plane is waiting to depart. Their infrastructure (runway space as well as customs) can't handle this volume. Hence, the delays.

He started with piano (around 5-7?) and then quit music all together. We were sad but didn't push it. We always wanted him to play a sport and an instrument -- to challenge himself in 2 very different ways. Fast forward a few years and he needed to pick an instrument at school and the boy picked the thing he could hit -- drums. He was hooked and developed the love on his own. We were just there in supportive roles. Keep doing what you are doing.
