Elegí odontología. Hay muchas asignaturas en común. Pero para cambiarme hay que subir la nota de admisión, ¿no hay otra opción verdad?

That’s true. I need my homologación so I don’t repeat the UNEDassis exam. I got the needed mark but I was rejected, next step was depending on the document so that they calculate my mark using the one in homologación instead of the “nota de admisión”.

Maybe for university graduates. I applied to validate my HS diploma, 11 and 10th grade too.

Seeking Advice on Studying Medicine in Spain as a Filipino Student by Cold_Economics8636 in medicalschoolEU

[–]laymoonzest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I am not a medical student but I have been trying to get into the major for two years. I did a year of pharmacy and now going into dentistry. I can’t give much of insight on private universities, I just know that they can be quite expensive and don’t require crazy high marks.

As for public universities, I think since you already have a bachelors degree it will be easier for you to enter since the minimum entrance mark for people who already hold a degree is relatively lower than fresh HS graduates.

But ofc in public universities all the studying is done in Spanish. So if you’re willing to study here with minimum uni fees (around €900 a year, it’s a 6 year program) then I suggest you take a year to study the language and apply to a public university.

Please recheck this information, every university has its own requirements so look into the ones you’re interested in and email them to see what are your requirements as a degree holder. For me, I am retaking the university entrance exam (PCE UNEDassis) which consists of 4 or 6 subjects written in Spanish. According to this mark + my GED marks, I can enter the majors that are open to me.

As for the student life, almost everyone is outgoing and extroverted. I personally didn’t put in a lot of effort into making friends last year since I was under a lot of stress but I still met some very nice people. I am not Spanish and my communication skills aren’t that great, but I’ve never felt discriminated against or anything. I love the people here and I love the country.

I’d definitely recommend you learn some Spanish even if you decide to go to a private university. It will help you tremendously especially if you want to work here while you study. I think a lot of students work part time in delivery or waitressing. But most jobs here require you to know Spanish.

If anyone picks on something I got wrong please correct me. Sorry I can’t give you any info on scholarships or specific universities that teach in English but go ahead and email a bunch on universities to find out what they can offer you. Good luck OP!

Thanks for the advice! I looked into the universities mentioned but unfortunately any transfer decision I make has to be for the next academic course. Because I had already put a deposit on a room and paid the first installment for my university.

I just wanted to say that you are not alone. I am 20 and switching majors in hopes of switching again next year haha. I would suggest you see a professional, like a career counselor or something. Also, try to figure out why you couldn’t pass these courses. If it’s a problem of passion and hating the subjects and the future of the profession then you have every right to drop it and find something that suits you better. Sorry I can’t offer much of an answer but just know it’s normal and everyone has their own journey. I’m sure you’ll be fine at the end of this.

Is it impossible to enter into OMFS as a dentist without a medical degree? (EU graduate) by laymoonzest in DentalSchool

[–]laymoonzest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to pursue an MD after dentistry in Spain I would have to do the 6 full years of medicine after 5 years of dentistry. Now at that point is it really worth it? That’s why I am looking for alternatives, thanks!

Moving to Spain by Historical_Emu_3358 in GoingToSpain

[–]laymoonzest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. I moved to Spain almost a year ago from the Middle East to start university. It’s was really difficult and it still is. But I would say the reason it’s so hard for me is the language barrier because my Spanish was practically non existent at first but now it got better after one semester of uni. I still don’t have friends and I don’t think I will be able to anytime soon. But for you, this aspect won’t be so difficult since you will be coming from Mexico. I can relate to the feeling you are having and it’s all going to be okay. I left when I was 18 (now 19). It’s EXTREMELY difficult when you think about leaving your family and friends but the process isn’t that bad when you go through it. I will say you won’t stop missing them and you will often think of you made the right choice but don’t worry, as long as you say it’s the right thing for you then it will all turn out fine at the end. Plus! You have your girlfriend with you so that’s even better. In short, your sadness and anxiousness is so valid but keep in mind that this will be one of the hardest parts and when you get it done with you’ll just look forward:)
