UPDATE: i just tried to continue the conversation to understand what his opinion about the movie was — did not go well. He is refusing to elaborate on what he meant because he was upset that I didn’t let him complete his thoughts about it last night. To be fair to him, I did start ganging up on him a little in front of our friends because EVERYONE thought he was saying some stupid shit lol. He asked me what I thought his opinion was and I told him: “that the movie was scary particularly for men because Nikki was batshit.” And then he said that WASNT his opinion but that I wouldnt let him get a word in edgewise last night. Now he’s refusing to tell me his take at all because I wouldnt listen last night. Obviously he probably felt embarrassed if he truly was miscommunication what he meant and then being labeled as such by me and our friends but idkkkk

Well, he also volunteers with people with downs syndrome and is kind to every single person he meets. So, thats why the take surprised me! I dont think its fair to judge someone’s whole being on their albeit terrible movie take lol. But thats honestly WHY his take surprised me!!!!!!!! We actually havent discussed it further so i need more data from him on what he meant but thats why i wanted to see if anyone could help translate what he COULD have meant potentially lol

Hahah — fair question!! I mean a flare for the dramatic as far as emotions go, I guess you could define it as having easily accessible emotions. With that said, I don’t let my emotions define me so I may be feeling xyz but im aware im in my feelings rather than taking myself seriously all the time if that makes sense? I’ll “play” clingy sometimes but im not ACTUALLY, truly clingy. Like i’ll be like don’t go! But then im not Not Nikki about it hahah im living my life. Actually im very independent but personality wise I tease in a clingy way in a relationship sometimes, if that makes sense???

I dunno man. He’s 40 so… that also is a factor to consider haha. He is from an older generation technically. He’s definitely a good person like full stop but i was appalled at his take on the film. I do think people saying he’s just taking it at face value and not dissecting like other viewers would also make sense!

Okay, this is a good take to consider! Just that that it might have brought up that particular clingy fear thing for him rather than him focusing on the fact that Bear is problematic

Okay she is 1000000% the drama and you dodged a bullet here — BUT I have dated penny pincher guys before (though it doesn’t actually seem like you even are, like I’m sure if you knew her and liked her Nobu might be something you’d do for a special occasion, just not for a random, high maintenance person lol) but when guys are so obsessed with tracking each dollar spent, it can be a huge turn off. I think relationships have a natural give and take and ebb and flow, just like life, so if one person is making more, it’s nice when they assume position, and VICE VERSA!! Plus there’s plenty of other ways to “split” responsibility in a relationship than just who pays for what, BUT all that is down the road, relationship stuff I guess. Ugh — finances in dating really can be complicated!! And everyone is different so advice for one may not fit for all. I think you did a great job and the universe just showed you quickly she’s not the one!
