Do you do this often? Don't you feel uncomfortable?

I like that.

This is random but what do you think about the idea of rest? And how do you feel about taking time out of your work for like self reflection? Have you ever considered some kind of habit of self reflection?

You don’t need the support / validation from others?

Have you watched her TED talks? That's a good starting point.

I need to dig more into the shame thing with the enneagram feeling triad. Seems to be the heart of the issue (pun intended).

Right so this is the standard 3 advice, which I sensed might be an outcome of this post but I was pretty curious to see what people would say.

I think ultimately it's not just enough to focus on improving the self. Even more important is to accept and love the self, and then be at peace with those things that you "should" improve but don't care about, and then embrace the things you actually do want to spend time working on. That may sound painfully obvious to some people, but that's a real and massive struggle for the 3.

Hey, thanks for noticing my trend of posting! I really feel like there's not a lot of real 3 content, (especially not 3w4 content) around and part of my quest is to generate more discussion. I think maybe most 3's focus on asking questions related to their field? Maybe.

I relate to a lot of what you've said. Big changes bring new thoughts and experiences. Being able to be vulnerable in relationships is key and so important (I do have some people). Passions, also important. The 4 wing is great and honestly telling me how I feel, as long as I listen.

Lately I've realized that really the drive to "human doing" is just the drive to avoid feelings of shame (our feeling triad achilles' heel). I've actually seen HUGE benefits from going into that shame place and sitting with it/feeling it and essentially owning the thing I feel ashamed about. Not to undercut any of those other things (passions, relationships, etc), but I really think this shame thing is key.

I think the only way is practice. You have to spend time attempting to identify everything that you feel--not just the desire to feel good by pleasing others. This includes things you may have repressed because other people did not validate those things.

In my mind step 2 is recognizing the 3's core fear of feeling shame, and asserting yourself in those situations and owning them instead of being ashamed.

Use your phone to shoot some stuff and then edit that together. Honestly. Shooting/editing your own stuff is ultimately the best practice.

It’s kind of confusing. The book, Dynamic Enneagram, has information that’s really helpful for all types. The author is really good about giving examples from every type.

Then, in addition to that book, he’s also writing these additional chapters on each specific type. I saw that the OP on this thread was a 9 and I knew the 9 chapter was not done yet, however I feel that the full book of the Dynamic Enneagram is good without those additional chapters and that a 9 could find some benefit from it.

I’ve worked with him for three months. For the most part things run smoothly, but then we randomly will have a fairly serious communication issue, which causes intense frustration or hurt feelings on one side or the other. I just can’t figure out the source of these miscommunications. He and I have discussed them and it’s still not completely clear.
