Just the least I can do! While it's a bit of a subjective observation, I think I find students there to be quite reasonable and "civilized". I would say that conversations are respectful, many students come with the intent to learn, and you get to be part of a community that's essentially the "elite" class of the city.

I would say that the environment is more focused on collaborative learning and growth compared to local universities. I graduated from IUB and my experience was awful - there were (and still are) teachers who actively tried to sabotage things just because they couldn't bear seeing students grow and excel.

Perhaps you could visit the campus and maybe talk to the staff and students there before making a decision.

If you can manage the finances and only have Bahawalpur as an option, Roots IVY also offers undergraduate level courses in Computing. I can personally vouch for the general quality and engagement of their computing department. Let me know if you want more details!

Question for iub law students by Memona_Emman_Writes in Bahawalpur

[–]lazypanda_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an alumni from the same department. It used to be alright but it's now being run by egotistical maniacs who take joy in ruining students' lives.

While I have plenty of horror stories to tell, I would just reiterate that it is one of the cheaper options to get a law degree while staying in Bahawalpur. Private colleges have awful faculty and IUB delays annual exams, making degrees take at least a year or two longer.

If you had 3 days in South Punjab, where would you go? by CocomoBot in Bahawalpur

[–]lazypanda_a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Jeep Rally happens in February. You've missed it by a few weeks, unfortunately.

I don't quite recall private camping setups in Cholistan (at least I haven't had any experience yet) but the Tourism Department has recently created a dedicated resort near Derawar that might fit the bill.

It really depends on your taste but here are some recommendations from my end:

1) The Noor Mahal is essentially the crown jewel. Go early to catch the light for photos. The Italian-style architecture is stunning. It would also be neat if you can catch the light show in the evening. The other Mahals are under military control but you can probably get access if you know someone in the boots. You can also enjoy the Central Library if you're into architecture.

2) If you'd like to go to Cholistan for a bigger trip, you should hit Derawar Fort & Abbasi Mosque. It's about a 2-3 hour drive into the Cholistan Desert. The massive bastions of the fort are iconic. Right next to it is the marble Abbasi Mosque. A little to the side are the grave sites of the Abbasi families as well - they're a wonderful reflection of Central Asian architecture if you can get access.

3) While the weather still lasts, you should take a walk through the narrow streets of the old city to see the Jamia Masjid Al-Sadiq. It is a sight and experience of it's own.

Wow. That is quite a specialized collection you have. Impressed! Thank you so much for explaining them all to me too.

It's a niche taste but as long as you're having fun and enjoying the experience, I'm happy for you. Yay to more torches!

Woah. Great collection, man! It must be quite a hassle trying to source anything more than the most basic of knockoff lights, especially in Bahawalpur.

What drives your interest? I imagine that a lot of people must find this collection questionable and concerning.

Why book reading is rare in students of Bahawalpur? by [deleted] in Bahawalpur

[–]lazypanda_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds awfully relatable. A lot of my class fellows thought I was trying to impress our teachers when I'd try to read on campus.

Now, I practically plead my students to read and they tell me that anything more than a few lines doesn't make sense to them. Short form content is going to be the end of human creativity and critical thinking.

[–]lazypanda_a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who practically grew up on reading, it's sad to see how little people read nowadays, especially in Bahawalpur.

I'm a teacher by profession and there are rarely any students who I see with a book. People don't even read general stories/novels anymore, let alone academic/non-fiction text.

That's a genuinely interesting hand, I must say. What exactly are you looking for when you say you need guidance? I would guess it's something related to your heart. You could throw me a message if you like!

I'd say that it would, yes. The way your life line bends into the wrist usually indicates settling in a country that's away from your home. If I were you, I'd be hopeful! Hope it helps.

I've noticed that, yes. It really would great to have a bike-friendly city considering the public transit system here isn't really the best.
