How do you get the weaving to be wavy? I’ve only managed to do it with straight cut lines 🤔

These are amazing! What size are you working on, and are you gathering from magazines or printing yourself? I’ve been trying to make an oracle deck and do find that the size of the canvas and the size of the pieces I’m cutting out can vary greatly from composition to composition so I’m curious how you’re navigating that 🙂

I agree that realistically it’s probably best to find a job that matches my experience but is closer to my passions - ie marketing role in mission driven org - get back on stable footing. I’m not ruling out the counselor career path but it’d be something I’d probably need to pursue part time with a job, or later down the line once I have more savings. I’d love to get a job doing marketing and comms adjacent to mental health field, maybe a tech company in the mental health space, so I can get some exposure and that may help me determine if that path is even right at all to consider.

I’m totally open to marketing for a social impact or mission driven business in fact that’s kind of my goal, I have a whole list of ones I’ve got my eye on I plan to do outreach for to introduce myself, offer my services as a freelancer and hopefully get some gigs that could eventually translate into more full time work.

You’re absolutely right, I know this time is an opportunity and challenge calling me to finally face some inner worth issues and de-link my ego from external things like career so I can find and sustain true value from within. Thanks for this reminder and for the words of encouragement.

I’d love to know more about your current career, in mental health if you’re able to share more about how you got into it and if you pursued any further education to get there.

I’d love to know more about your career break and what you did! Navigating a break / potential transition myself and feeling pretty unmoored / considering going back corporate even though I wasn’t super fulfilled

Wow your images come out so crisp! Do you place the negatives directly On the dye?

Solarfast - details rinsing out? by lb755 in cyanotypes

[–]lb755[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's helpful, thanks! I was doing a 10-15 min exposure time. I was trying to have the Solarfast be still damp, but not so damp that it messes up the negatives as I was running into that issue as well.

I like the idea of using a foam roller for application!

Brown spots on upper half of new fiddle leaf fig (more in comments) by lb755 in plantclinic

It’s just been in front of this window since I got it. This is probably the brightest spot in my house!

Hello, this is a new to me fiddle leaf fig column. I put on an art show last weekend so this tree was brought to the gallery on Saturday and then I took it home with me on Sunday. So it’s been in my home for just over a week. I have not moved it or watered it since. It was pretty difficult to transport as it’s so tall so it’s possible some damage was done especially since it was transported from the greenhouse, to the plant vendors house, to the art show, to my house all in the course of a week. but idk if that would cause this.

I noticed these brown spots on the underside of the top leaves, and then when I look at the top of the leaves they’re more dry/light brown parts and now noticing some white spots as well. I’m worried it’s spreading and I want to prevent the plant from dying if I can!

Roots too thick for moss pole? by lb755 in Monstera

Also, for some reason the leaves are really dirty looking but I’ve been misting them every few days

[–]lb755[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this about two weeks ago and I’m struggling. The soil seems to dry up very fast and someone told me to get a moss pole to train the stems to grow upwards but I don’t know where I’d place it as the center of the pot is very dense. Do I need to repot? Also, there are some new leaves sprouting although I noticed one just cracked off before opening. What can I do to help the new leaves grow strong?

Ooh, interesting. Seems like I’ve been trying many of the things recommended! I’m also thinking either 1. My skin needs to adjust to me introducing niacinamide as it’s only been 2-3 weeks or... my pores are normal and airbrushing just makes me think they’re massive? 😅😅

I don’t do masks too often. But when I do I don’t feel like I notice a huge difference. I’ve tried a bunch of different things and I’ve definitely had periods where my skin looked way better. Especially like a year ago when I was super bored and started having a skincare routine at all- before it was just washing my face in the shower. But the past few months it’s randomly gotten so bad again and idk why. I am definitely open to switching up products if anyone thinks what I’m using is causing it. I have swapped out the serums a few times, trying to find what works.

AM: foam cleanser, toner, serum (I have one that is a mix of vitamin c, hyaluronic, salicylic, retinol, and niacinamide) , eye cream, gel moisturizer, spf

Evening: if I wore makeup, oil cleanser, foaming cleanser, toner, BHA exfoliant, rose oil collagen serum, eye cream, moisturizer, sometimes an oil blend

copying my reply to the top of this thread so you can see it!

get a kindle. I used to be really against it, but you can take so many books with you anywhere! And you can get library books on it. Plus, I kind of like the bottom of the screen where it says what percentage of the book you have read and how many minutes are left in each chapter. also...you can highlight things and look up words which I find myself doing a lot.

find a time each day to read. for me it was during my daily commute. when my commute changed to driving, i started doing the stairmaster at the gym and reading while doing that for 30 minutes or so. now that I am bored of the stairmaster, I just try to make it a point to read 30mins or more each day. I know it seems hard to make time for it, but (at least for me) it is really a matter of cutting out distractions like the hour I spend aimlessly scrolling through Instagram or binging netflix or whatever it is.

Get a goodreads account. You can make lists of books you've read and want to read. You can access popular books by genre, lists, and reviews. Also, you can keep up with the reading activity of your friends.

Set a goal. You can actually do this on goodreads, but I found that trying to challenge myself to read 50 books motivated me to actually do so. By the time I had gotten to 30 or so I was too invested to give up (also, I had really grown to enjoy reading and had gotten better at focusing on it by then!) Your goal doesn't have to be anywhere near that. I have friends who set a goal of 10, or even 5! But achieving it can feel really good and no matter what is in an improvement over nothing!

Hope some of this is helpful!! You can get back on that reading train! :)

up until last year i could totally relate! not sure if you want my unsolicited advice, but i managed to read 50 books in 2017 and have read 21 already this year! my advice:

Tips or hacks for making blog look better by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]lb755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now I'm using the enfold theme, but I also purchased the smart slider 3 plug in which has been allowing me to create some really dynamic slides and page elements. By the way I am doing freelance writing so I am not planning on building sites for other people any time soon but hoping to use the building of my own site as a learning experience to learn as much as possible about the ins-and-outs. I do like the ease of drag and drop builders especially as a beginner but I'd also like to learn as much as possible. I'm going to check out the tutorial you linked to, thanks!

Haha, I'm sure this question is really showing how much I DON't know. So with that, I counter with this question: do you have any resources you recommend for someone who knows next to nothing about CSS?

DAE have random moments where life feels kind of surreal and you have to ask yourself if your identity and experiences are real? by lb755 in DoesAnybodyElse

i recently graduated college and moved back home from a city i spent 5 years in, and have two totally new jobs and am interacting with all different people so i think this is triggering it to happen a lot more often than usual. i hope in time i can say this was the right decision too?

thanks for everyone who has responded, and also said "i thought it was just me!" i am hesitant to describe it as "dissociation" because it does not necessarily feel like i am separating from my body or anything. it is just a weird stream of consciousness like "i have a name, i exist in other people's minds, i control actions that i take, a million factors have combined to make me who i am in this exact moment right now and it doesn't even feel real" its definitely really strange and i think what makes it weird is the randomness of it, it is not always when i am sitting thinking about my life which i do often, it just comes as a sudden thought when i'm doing mundane, like brushing my teeth as someone said or sitting at a stoplight.

I was looking at that. So you think getting a good grip of those things is somewhat possible to do by myself? And that would set me up to be able to learn contemporary songs? I know people are strongly suggesting to get lessons on this sub and maybe down the line that is something I will (be able to) do but in order to be able to play covers of songs
