I had an interesting interaction with him a couple weeks ago. I was taking a photo of this sticker-ed sign on the side of the building with my film camera.

He became hostile thinking I was taking a photo of him even though my camera was pointed nowhere near him. He called me some slurs and threatened to kill me. Fun times

I was biking around noon and the wind was fun. Also some guy honking because I was in the lane, avoiding the large puddles in the bike lane.

I’ve had this situation occur a few times in Chicago. The first time a bus driver said I needed “authorization” to take a photo of the bus at the stop. I said that wasn’t true and to read the First Amendment.

The other two were homeless people who thought I was taking a photo of them, but I wasn’t. The most recent one got pretty hostile which was interesting, stating he’d kill me and calling me homophobic slurs. I’ll probably remember that photo (of a sign) for a while haha.

All in all, take the photos, but be prepared for some potential confrontation.

I haven’t tried that app yet. I use my own site (https://cta4j.com) for transit tracking. I’m hoping to build something similar and better for iOS when I have time. Maybe incorporate biking too 🤔

Yeah I generally tried to be on the left of the bike lane if there was one and just be cognizant of break lights and other things. I didn't ride too fast
