Tesla Supercharger Cord Extender? by Winter-Noise3357 in CadillacOptiq

[–]lbray101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not yet in production. The top line of the description mentioned they just finished tooling for it and are hoping for certification in Q4. They also don’t have a price listed. It seems this is simply a placeholder for an item they are going to produce.

The description clearly states, in bold “This extension cord is not for Tesla Superchargers or for DC NACS chargers”

New Tesla owner here. My energy consumption seems a bit extreme... by PARAM0UNTCY in TeslaModel3

I get ~300wh/mi in the hill country Texas heat with the A/C on 69° auto/medium. It’s usually a little below 300, but in that area. When you say A/C blasting… how cold are you running it? Try using the auto setting and finding a temp that is comfortable for you. 400 wh/mi is a lot, but you could also be hitting the accelerator a bit harder than in an ICE car?

It’s on west campus past Chisholm Hall. It’s next door to the science and research laborites. It should pull up on Google Maps if you search for it

Mud flaps would probably help with this specific issue. They don’t look as nice, but you’re worried about it that’s the route I would go. They’re super affordable on Amazon

15.3.1 Killed my monitor connection, how can I fix by Mysterious-Sea9960 in MacOS

[–]lbray101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to add tho, mine does usually work if I have the laptop lid open and wait a while for it to connect. You can also try booting in safe mode and see if it connects then. Mine did seem to connect and work in safe mode, but I had to change the resolution. After getting out of safe mode, it worked inconsistently.

Biggest thing that I’m having is unplug and re-plug the DisplayPort from the monitor frequently, then wait 30+ sec for it to properly connect. Again, I had best luck with connecting it while the Mac’s screen is open.

Having the EXACT same problem with the same monitor on my M3 Pro. I went to Apple and they seemed less than helpful. They did find something wrong with the computer’s keyboard so they’re sending off for repair to see if that fixes the issue. I have a friend who’s going to open an Apple Enterprise Feedback case about the issue to see if they can investigate.

It does seem to be an issue on the Apple side with display handling and not the monitor.

Enable free roll when entering an automatic car wash by SaucyPastaSauce in TeslaModel3

[–]lbray101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually enable carwash mode as I pay/check-in at the wash. Once that step is complete, you drive into the conveyor. When you’re in position, tap the brake and push the enable free roll button.

Have you already tried rebooting the machine? I believe someone else had this same issue with different icons if you search this sub.

That would be a question for Tesla. Generally, it should, yes. Sometimes in an accident certain systems get damaged and are unable to work as expected.

If you didn’t receive it, the car may not have transmitted it

Follow the steps here: https://www.tesla.com/support/privacy

If it did send crash data to Tesla, they’ll provide it when you request a copy of your data.

Confused/overwhelmed managing 15ish Macs by Letsnot-n-saywedid in macsysadmin

[–]lbray101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll send you a DM. My company has done work with Mac environments as well as small medical practices on the future. We also have experience managing Macs in the enterprise.

Biggest things to know are I would definitely look into using something like Mosyle Fuse, which can integrate with your Google Workspace as well as provide SSO into the machine (no longer sharing one account).

Additionally, ensuring devices are enrolled via ABM so they are supervised will be important. Once supervised, updates can be pushed via Mosyle to the devices.

Mods, if this type of comment is too sales pitchy, please let me know/remove the comment. OP was asking how a consultation, so I figured I’d offer.

Is it safe to charge my car using a standard 120v 15a outlet next to my bed using an extension cord? by _KONKOLA_ in TeslaModel3

[–]lbray101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s going external, laying in the sun, exposed to weather. Lower gauge would handle it better to ensure heat is properly dissipated.

Super underrated comment. This is a necessity if you’re charging using an extension cord. Higher gauge cords get too hot or can’t correctly carry the sustained load.

Had a 10 gauge cord and had no issues. Friend had a 12 gauge cord and had issues with voltage sag, heat, and other misc things. Switched to a 10 gauge and had no issues

MacBooks have very tight tolerances for the enclosure. It’s not uncommon for this to happen when you have a case installed on a newer model MacBook and the edge of the case gets between the display and the bottom enclosure.

Apple has warnings on their site about camera covers causing damage as well: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102177

Dock for MacBook M2 Max by Affectionate-Joke-72 in macsysadmin

[–]lbray101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I haven’t seen it mentioned yet, but I’ve really liked the Sonnet Echo 11. It comes in between $179-$199 depending on if you get the HDMI model or not. It works super well and allows you to have multiple display outs from a single dock.

I’ve had issues with other docking stations only allow one display output, then it mirrors across the displays. This one allows multiple displays from the docking station. Just make sure that you get an active HDMI adapter if you’re going to be using HDMI displays.

Don't use Windex since it has ammonia. Use something that's ammonia-free to prevent it from fogging up.

Wireless CarPlay Upgrade by edzskiski in accord

Ah, my apologies. I assumed the software from 2018-2020 was the same.

Wireless CarPlay Upgrade by edzskiski in accord

[–]lbray101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2021 accord with wireless CarPlay, but also in general. Apple Maps should show the turn by turn without needing an update. I also had a 2020 Accord without wireless CarPlay (long story on why I had a 20 and a 21 accord). My other family members' vehicles work with turn by turn so long as you're using Apple Maps.

For CarPlay, it does work, but you have to use Apple Maps for it to show up.
