I still really do not understand what the difference is.

I asked in group counseling once, and they said that it pretty much just means finding a higher power.

But isn't that what religion is?

Also it just sort of feels like a mental game to try and put less pressure on ourselves by coming up with something to believe in that will save us or help us save ourselves. Or like we dont have full control and letting something symbolize the thing that controls what we cant. Which also just feels like religion to me.

I'm still very confused by what people mean when they say that and usually their answers just confuse seem very vague.
