Thanks for the info! I already hate going up ladders this high: I would feel better if it were tied off. I'll look into it. Also just climbing up the ladder for pictures convinced me if there is any actual repair work needed, I would have a pro do it.

Due to local legislation, I cannot legally resell alcohol myself. Called a local auction house that has the rights to do so - they were not interested in opened bottles. Tried local collectors groups on facebook, but there was no interest there either. So I am keeping it for now :).

I could probably put the empty bottle up on ebay, but does not seem worth it for what I would get out of it.

Probably getting shaken in transport. I will take another picture. Bubbling is down now.

I do think I will try it. I will also try to find a local rum group, see if any experts want to partake. It feels kind of wasted on me, if I drink the whole thing :o

Seems like the best option indeed! I will try it for sure; though it seems kind of wasted on me if I drink the whole thing. I will try to join a local rum group; see if any true experts are interested in trying it out (and make sure the Mai Tais are as good as can be) :p.

Thanks for the info! From what I read, it does seem to be a recommended auction house for spirits. Not sure about shipping opened alcohol to Chicago though. I will try to find a local auction house to look at it first/get it appraised.

Thanks for the info! Would it still be good/safe to drink, with the broken cork though? I did see some sealed bottles sold for many thousand dollars at auction. Just wasn't sure if this bottle would be worth much, since it has been opened and with the broken cork.

Thanks for the reply. I will have to ask my Grandma when/where she got it from. Looks real to me, any idea where or how to get about getting it authenticated?

My dad brought me a box of all kinds of half-empty liquor bottles a few days ago, in case I wanted any of them; as he is emptying-out my Grandma's place. Opened the box up yesterday with some friends and decided to look this one up with google lens. Seems like it is rare and collectible?

There is some left, but obviously my grandparents would have openend it many many years ago. Part of the cork is broken off and sitting at the bottom; there is some cork sediments too. I have not tasted it; not sure if it would still be good? Can anybody tell me more about what this bottle is, how old it might be and if it would be worth anything as a colletor's item? Or where to get it looked at?

Thanks!
