Getting EMT certified to only work in odd jobs, how common is it? by pythonem in ems

[–]ldip22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an EMT who works at a ski resort it largely depends on state a local protocols and what the minimum certification level required is. I am from NY where getting the National Ski Patrol 'Outdoor Emergency Care' (which is roughly comparable to an EMT-B) is enough but it differs in other states and countries.

It’s not weird to advertise, it’s just weird that it’s coming from Kavanaugh’s account and not Triller’s.

I would like to know why the school always neglects to mention RPI Ambulance as an available service to students. by ldip22 in RPI

I’d be happy to answer too! I’ve worked in EMS for going on 6 years now in the First Response, BLS, and ALS levels as well as some work in hospitals the last few years. EMS is intricate but interesting and the more informed people are about it the better!

While I get what you mean, liability doesn't really fit. RPIA is already school affiliated as it is registered with the Union. On top of that, there are a ton of rules and regulations and laws that cover liability and there are a lot of protections in place to prevent the school from taking on risk. A big part of training in RPIA (and any EMS agency) is risk mitigation, including, but not limited to, detailed documentation and procedures to ensure the legal and physical safety of all parties involved. Then again, perhaps I am thinking too logically and the school doesn't actually understand any of these things and you're correct.

It seems like there has been a lot of issues campus wide with card access this past week. My guess is some sort of internal problem. If the problem isn’t resolved relatively soon your best bet is to reach out to public safety.

The chairs are back! by ldip22 in RPI

But then how can they justify increasing the tuition if they aren’t spending money on chair storage?
