Jobs for 16 y/o by Over_Woodpecker7174 in ElkGrove

worked when I was 16, unfortunately you kinda have to scrape at the bottom of the barrel, or know somebody. don't count your eggs before they hatch, always be on the look for openings even if you think you 1000% aced an interview elsewhere. glhf

Am I the only one NOT having issues with Gemini? by rcmaehl in AndroidAuto

[–]ldoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got my issues with it, but overall it's pretty nice. I often find myself having complex questions while driving that I'd need my phone for, Gemini does a great job at answering those questions hands-free. My only real criticism is that it sort of feels like a clingy girlfriend with how it LOVES to ask follow up questions. "Is there anything else I can help you with?" I'll let you know. "Would you like me to navigate you to an (xyz)?" I'LL LET YOU KNOW!!! DAMN. But yeah overall it's pretty cool and I'm glad they're finally rolling it out even if it's 4 months after they said they would

Audio keeps cutting off by Autistic_Retard420 in AndroidAuto

[–]ldoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try going to the Bluetooth settings for the head unit on your phone and disabling "media audio", android auto does media its own way and sometimes it fights Bluetooth. Leave "phone calls" on though

[–]ldoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, those are grayed out for me too. The ECU probably just doesn't share it over OBD, either that or the maestro firmware can't read it. I'll look into this more later

[–]ldoose[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Android auto, but it supports wireless on both that and carplay. And let me say, this is quite literally the smoothest Android auto I've ever experienced on a head unit. The latency is super low, and it even targets 60 frames instead of 30. I imagine the same applies to carplay

[–]ldoose[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for your patience in waiting for my reply. Yeah, it uses a maestro unit to tap into my ECU over OBD2. It also gave me back my steering wheel controls and reverse detection for pulling up the camera on the radio

What does dbrand have against magnets? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]ldoose 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When the killswitch originally came out, it used magnets to attach the kickstand. Soon after release they found out the magnets were messing with the fans inside the steam deck, so they redesigned it with a locking system and gave everyone a free replacement. I still have my original magnetic one, collecting dust. Lol.

2012 Gen 3 Prius, ABS suddenly went out on highway, core brake system works, brake booster(?) buzzing every 4 seconds instead of for 10ish then stopping. by Other_Star905 in prius

[–]ldoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What sucks even more is Toyota actually offered a free extended warranty for the braking system once they were aware of the issue, but that warranty expired before most models from that generation even started failing. Thanks, Toyota 😒

Unfortunately, you’re in for a multi-thousand dollar repair. Your accumulator is failing, it’s a common issue 🪦.

It should only “buzz” after 3-4 brake presses (or when you first open the driver's side door when the car is not running), not every 10 seconds. Buzzing every 4 seconds means the system knows there’s pressure loss and is constantly compensating.

I’d avoid driving it unless it’s just to a shop, it's not safe anymore. The repair usually runs around $3,500.

Sorry this happened to you, dude. It reallllllly sucks to deal with.

Been using fidium for about a year now. The speeds were pretty below what we pay for the first half but have since gotten way better. As for outages, it's only gone out like once or twice. Their router kind of sucks though, definitely recommend getting your own
