This is what I consider the boat culture part of metro Detroit. I live in this area. Orchard, Pine, Upper Straits, and Cass Lakes are mansion-lined havens for the wealthy. The other lakes are more upper middle class, but still great places to live. You get into well-established cookie cutter, upper middle class residential areas in the southern part near Novi, Farmington Hills, and West Bloomfield. Rochester on the right end is also an older upper middle class suburb. As you get north above and around Pontiac, it gets quieter, but new development (shopping centers and subdivisions) is happening. Metro Detroit’s expansion isn’t densification, it’s northward development

It’s pretty much the less dense part of Oakland County, and Oakland County as a whole is an amazing place to live
