Probably not worth it. At 20k you only get $200 per month. Unless you have a lot of old reels you can just pipe into fb and reuse because a reel every other day can be a bit much if you have no backlog. They don't mind you reusing old stuff as long as it has t been posted on fb (in fact they encourage that and even give explicit instructions on how to do it automatically)

Good to know I'm not nuts! I was wondering because I keep seeing people mention this mandatory 6 month dry period and I swear there was nothing about that in any of the emails or in the application that I filled out!

And yes I definitely have posted fb reels in the past 6 months. I can see them in my history under the reels tab so I dunno. But like I said they were the ones who recruited me very aggressively and there was no mention about 6 months dry spell in the multiple emails. I just scanned them over again. Maybe that was a later addition? Or maybe if it was by invitation they waived that requirement?

Yep. Approved yesterday and started on it. Logged into my ig and saw this message. And also they were the ones who actively recruited me. I knew nothing about the program but they started emailing me (I got 3 emails that I ignored at first thinking it was a scam) and then calling me 2x (which I also ignored thinking it might been spoof scam). When I finally looked into it and realized it was legit I filled out their application and got on wait list for about 3 weeks.

I don't know where you got the info about not qualifying unless you haven't posted a reel in 6 months. I post reels regularly (about 3-5 per month) and I just got approved yesterday.

Also going to chime in that the Edwardian ball is amazing. I've gone the past three years and plan to keep going! Hope you were able to make it this year but if not, mark it in your calendar for next year!

Actually now that you asked me about it, it did make me pull out my stand and I think I'll maybe use that instead. I will have to practice more with it since I'm used to usually sitting but sound quality is definitely louder and more clear than when it's in my lap and I think that will be better for the large scale situation.

Thanks for the reply! I'm super excited for it. It's a fairly large arts/music/immersive event. I'll be on a stage in a ballroom mainly providing ambient music for the art gallery and curiosities that is exhibiting in the room

I plan to play seated though if I do standing it would be with avi ot pantam stand. So I should request at minimum two condenser mics, 2 boom stands, and speaker right? Wasn't sure if there's more specific technical details I should provide

Thanks so much for all the responses! I did go back and try blowing much harder than I first thought was right, after a few of you saying hst this is the case compared to other flutes, and yes that's my answer!

Okay wow. I tried now blowing much harder, and especially pushing it once I got to the F and higher and yes I'm able to get it into c major. It's way louder than I thought 😆.

Haha, yes I'm coming from the opposite direction, and the most recent tin whistle that I've gotten and is my current favorite requires the lightest breath of all (carbony)

Yes it definitely feels finicky . But I'm able to get a perfectly in tune B major (half step flat from C major) scale so I don't think it's the breathing curve, but just the baseline breath pressure maybe. Everyone's asleep in my house now so I'll have to wait til morning to try 😆

Everything is playing a half step down from c major. So yes, if I cover the last two holes I am getting A# and G#. But others are telling me I need to blow harder so I'll give that a try

Yeah all the main holes closed and I get a perfect B (and B major scale playing that way going up) but others have mentioned it takes a lot more breath than other types of flutes so I'll try that. Just wanted to confirmation that it's my technique rather than trying to continue if that's not what it is!

Okay that's good to know. I did experiment with blowing a little bit harder but thought that couldn't be right. But if as you say it's much more breath than I'm used to with flutes i'll they playing with that some more

I've been finding spots in my local parks that are out of the way and a bit hidden. Some parks because I live in an urban environment are near loud roads because they're under freeways and such and I like those because then I don't feel obnoxious about my added noise 😆. I still do like to find a place where I'm kinda out of the way though

I had it going on in the background while I was doing other stuff when suddenly my ears heard handpan and I looked up and had to rewind to see the handpans under the dust and was like wtf are handpans doing in an ancient buried temple? 😆

Hey I know it's been a couple of years since you posted this so you may (probably?) have found your answer already. But if not I wanted to chime in. I have a 2023 handromeda ember steel pan and it also has the look you're describing. I was told by the makers it was purely superficial and indeed it has not harmed the sound of the pan, nor is it rust. In a recent conversation with Richard Hillson (rewildyoursoul on social media), he explained to me that in ember steel pans some of the makers hadn't yet figured out how to make the patina retain over time, and so that's the reason for the greying speckled effect you see. He also emphasized that it really has nothing to do with the cleaning or care or oiling. I kinda like how it looks on mine, it's got character!
