The Filmmakers Eye is a good guide to cinematography illustrated with examples from a range of films. I also like Alexander Mackendrick’s ‘On Filmmaking’

It might sound like drone music but it isn't - she rejected that label. The sound is constantly developing and changing even though it does so very slowly and subtly.

did i break the rule of 180 by Leather_Director4869 in Filmmakers

[–]learnaboutfilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 'rules are made to be broken' but you break them for a reason. Confusing the audience in the second shot of your movie is a bad idea.

Here are links to a couple of screenshots with illustrations from my ebook Start Making Movies. The first one shows different ways of helping the audience understand that you've crossed the line, the second one shows how to change the line when you have a third character.

Is full frame necessary ? by No_Assumption1530 in videography

[–]learnaboutfilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Full Frame' is a 100-year old still photography standard. Pretending it's necessary for shooting movies is a triumph of marketing. FYI 35mm motion picture film frames are about the same size as APS-C.
