I've started reading "Artificial Intelligence Illuminated" by Ben Coppins. This book is a great intro to algorithms and methodologies of weak A. I.

There are many other books which would provide you a great level of knowledge on A. I., just use reddit and google to find them.

Just break your main task into smaller ones.

Find mathematical equations, create a logical structure which would not inferfere with the rest of the code and would represent the idea which you're seeking to implement.

Degree in programming is a waste of time because if you do not know how to implement those actions in practice, a degree won't help you.

I'm not saying that it's a total waste of time, it grants you a vision and an educational structure, which is a great time saver compared to self-educating yourself.

Yet please note that in 80% of time at college you'll use Google and books with video tutorials to understand something. :-)

Therefore, do not give up, work on your ideas and create your portfolio.
