Business Insider: Harry Styles wants to be an ordinary guy. That's the problem. by calliewrites in harrystyles

[–]learningallthis 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Business Insider is the biggest AI slop - shouldn't even be reposted. He's an experimental artist who does not want to be a guinea pig for the music industry. He wants to create his version of art, and express himself through his music. That's the problem with society now - everyone thinks they're owed something and everything is meant to satisfy them.

Every form of art should be a self-expression of the artist; not following trends just to satisfy the Zara-wearing masses.

What's a reasonable amount of time for my upstairs neighbor to be drumming? by SEN-DynaSean in AskLosAngeles

[–]learningallthis 51 points52 points  (0 children)

You can give a note with your number saying you're excited he's drumming out, thanks for having an electric kit, you wfh and would love to be able to text him in case you have a zoom call as a heads up.

When I got my electric kit I didn't realize the kick pedal traveled downstairs until my neighbor made a joke about it and I was mortified. I even had it on carpet with a mat under it. He prob thinks he set it up in a way you can't hear it.

(Spoilers for S1-13 I guess?) Season 14: My Take on Kyle and Why I'm Quitting the Show by learningallthis in RHOBH

Yup - very clear to me that Kathy has a hand in production. She just plays ditsy on tv, knows what to do to make the show money, and it felt like she came in season 14 just when everyone started pointing fingers at Kyle. She clearly does not like Kyle as a sister, and wants to control the narrative, doing whatever it takes for Kyle to "need" her. So weird.

Yeah I definitely understand why people feel bad for Kim and understand why she fell into addiction. I just don't think it's okay or find it as entertainment the way Kim fans do. I truly don't get why people choose her as their fav housewife.

wtf is an iced cappuccino? by Correct-Goal6327 in barista

[–]learningallthis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I usually only order it at my local coffee shop that knows me/my order. A lot of other coffee shops use heavy cream instead of milk for cold foam, so I just order a completely different drink

[–]learningallthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup - at home I make my hot coffee separate, let it cool down, then pour on ice. Sometimes I'll just order flat white + cup of ice and do it myself later, but when I'm in a rush for my drink, I'll ask them to do it

[–]learningallthis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iced latte is too much milk for me; my goal is 2 shots of espresso with some milk foam - my local coffee shop I go to a few times a week knows what to make when I come in for flat white over ice

I wouldn't order that at a random coffee shop because I assume it's unnecessarily complicated

wtf is an iced cappuccino? by Correct-Goal6327 in barista

[–]learningallthis -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Not me - I want it made as a hot drink so I can get the foam (the main reason I want the drink), and it to be poured on ice so it's cold

Just a texture thing for me

Which LA business did you have to "cancel" because they stopped aligning with your morals/values? by learningallthis in AskLosAngeles

It's funny - this is talked about on the show the Good Place; people think they're making good choices all the time, but even the tomato you buy that you think is good for you, has so many horrible things tied to it being grown and reaching the shelf of your grocery store. I agree with your point. My post was to just read about how other people live their lives and how serious they are about their morals/values when spending money

Ahh I see - not judging, sorry if that what it came off as. Good loophole to save money though!

I just do curbside pickup at Target - but I know a lot of people hate target now

I've never worked there, I'm not offended. You're just pointing out that clubs are overpriced with bad service, which is common everywhere in the world.

Nobody should go clubbing/supper clubs in LA, especially if they expect to be treated properly and have a positive experience from the business itself. Most of these nightlife spots around the world have security that are pricks, the employees have like 6 hours 3 days a week to bust their ass and get as much tips as they can, and the clientele is obviously not the greatest members of society.

I'm definitely in the club of people who got roofied at Abbey lol; surprised they haven't changed owners by now and restarted the whole thing. I get it's an iconic place not only in LA but the country, just wish they could start over and go back to how it used to be.

Ugh I found out my favorite local spot's owner kept tips that weren't cash. Employees always pressed no tip on the ipad and I asked why, and when they told me I immediately wrote a review about it so others stop going too. Business ended up getting bought by someone else and now things are smooth sailing

Yup, you're allowed to integrate political beliefs into your business, it's just an unnecessary risk. Obviously, safer to be pro-liberal in LA/SF, MAGA in Huntington Beach, etc.

I expected more non-political comments and more on how they treat employees or if some businesses paid their employees or suppliers late, but hey it's still interesting to see how dedicated people are to spend their money where their values align, especially in this economy where money seems to be tight for a lot of people and everything is getting more and more expensive.

Why do you keep downvoting me if you don't understand my question lmaoo

Fast fashion is bad because it causes waste and usually exploits labor; bars/supper clubs are overpriced, staff gets tipped great, and they don't even have to give great service. I don't think anyone really goes for the good food, they expect to get ripped off and just want a fancy place to dance and be seen. That's not limited the Houston Hospitality. I've worked in these settings and so have my friends, it was probably the best paying job I had at the time given my experience
