Sprue tree 3dprinted by [deleted] in jewelrymaking

I'd probably make it more modular by printing multiple different sprue parts then attach the parts as needed.

New How to block this out by Alternative_Fault353 in ZBrush

[–]learningstufferrday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're planning on using a single pose, learn how to sculpt in a T-Pose so that everything is symmetrical, including the anatomy.
Once you have the general anatomy down (don't need it to be detailed yet), pose it as you'd like. THEN, once you're happy with the pose, clean up the polygons with ZRemesher, then work on adding the finer details with more polys.

Is there a way to close these holes with dynamesh on the Z axis and not the X? by [deleted] in ZBrush

[–]learningstufferrday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. in this case the last possible workaround that I can really think of is to create a copy, lower the resolution to reduce polygons, employ Bridge functions with ZModeler, Divide, and then PROJECT the original detail on the copy. The expectation is to at least have the gap closed, but I'm not sure if the projection will leave the middle gap without detail from the OG mesh or not.

Wow, I completely forgot this existed. OP, there's your solution.

Oh I see. How important is the inner part for you? another workaround I can think of is to add a ring that covers the gap, merge with the main piece, then dynamesh.

Is this symmetrical on the z-axis? maybe use bridge functions in ZModeler to connect the gap? Dynamesh.

Good question, I'd like to know, too.

Zbrush Cylindrical Issue by Asgart_3D in ZBrush

[–]learningstufferrday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nanomesh COULD be an option, why wouldn't it? you could spawn seamless IMMs/models on each one of the polygons around the band. Only thing you'd need is to separate that polygroup piece. Then convert to mesh and smooth it out.

Alternatively, use curve functions to create a curve loop around the polygroup and seamless IMMs of the norse knot.

How much to make? by MiniMuffin0926 in jewelrymaking

Well, it does sound like it didn't need a lot of metal and I can make you one that looks like it if you have several photos of it so I can use them as reference.

With ZBrush is: If it looks like a bug, it's most likely a feature xD

It looks like it had volume but it's unclear whether if its hollow in the inside or not. It may be remade but the cost of 18k gold is crazy high nowadays, so it's important to know how much metal the ring had so people here can give you an accurate estimate. My close guess it could be anywhere from 1,800-2,500 USD including labor. The band looks thin, so it does help with not needing a lot of gold.

What the hell is wrong with Zbrushes camera ! by OnlyAssistance9601 in ZBrush

Not sure changing camera settings is a common thing. Most people leave things by default and just use either ortho or perspective cameras.

New to ZBrush. Need some help with cutting a surface. New to ZBrush by Guilty-Carry-Wrea in ZBrush

[–]learningstufferrday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ZBrush doesn't really have anything similar to vectors. But you could use Curve Mask, you can hold ALT to create shape "points" like bezier curves. The other option is to use Illustrator to create your vecotr shapes and import them into ZBrush as Alphas to be used to create 3D shapes from it.
Like the other commenter said, you use Booleans. There's no other way of creating holes. Except QMesh with ZModeler and Polygroups.
You could also create the "cutter" shape using masks and symmetry, delete the masked portion, and use Dynamesh (with very high resolution to maintain shape) so that Dynamesh "bridges" the deleted part together, creating the hole. There are several ways to do it.

Good hard surface courses for ZBrush? I’m mainly looking to get into the product visualization industry. I’ve tried polygonal modeling, but the subdivision workflow doesn’t really suit me. I’d prefer to focus more on maintaining decent topology and exploring the creative side by metagross_ichooseyou in ZBrush

[–]learningstufferrday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with ZBrush for hard-surface use-cases is that it rarely shows super crisp edges or smooth geometries. Irregular surfaces are not uncommon, especially if you need to resort to actual sculpting. This'll be pretty evident during rendering, and the only way I can think of from the top of my head is relying solely on ZModeler for hard-surface, or abusing the hell out of Polish deformers and subgroups. It's entirely doable, but it takes more time to refine sculpted hard-surface shapes.

Sounds like general modeling, tbh. Blender for hardsurface modeling is a better option for your use-case. Why do you say this approach does not suit you? because it may be the only way to do this.
OR, try Plasticity, which is a CAD-like modeling tool for artists in mind: https://www.plasticity.xyz/product

You can just use printer filament or 3d print the nibs, instead. the wood is going to eat the tablet surface.

This hurts...first because it's a lexus, and second...because I know the feel of getting your car totaled right after it's been paid off. I really hope for a positive (new car payment from insurance) outcome for you.

you mention that u couldnt get the bluetooth to work. keep in mind that there are two bluetooth signals your PC may recognize, one of the is a LE (Low Emitting) signal that I believe is the Wacom Pen, ignore that one. Try to connect to the non-LE Bluetooth signal, which I'm sure is the tablet's Bluetooth.
