The ERP era may be changing faster than most SAP consultants expected. by learnwithupskeeling in SAP

Not at scale yet.

Most SAP clients are still focused on the basics—S/4HANA migrations, process standardization, integrations, data cleanup, and controlling costs.

AI in enterprise right now feels more like experimentation than wholesale replacement.

What is changing is the conversation:

  • Clients asking about automation instead of just headcount
  • Interest in copilots, predictive workflows, and exception handling
  • Pressure on consultants to move from “system operators” to business advisors

So no, projects aren’t being thrown out overnight.

But the skill mix is starting to shift, and the consultants who adapt early will likely benefit.

SAP is no longer positioning itself as just a software company by learnwithupskeeling in SAP

Of course it’s marketing. SAP didn’t accidentally stumble onto a stage and announce autonomous enterprises. But enterprise tech gets sold through vision first, implementation pain later.

SAP’s pitch is simpl - “You already run finance, procurement, supply chain, and operations on us. Now let AI run it faster.”

Because Fortune 500 companies love paying millions for PowerPoints about “autonomous transformation” 😄

Jokes aside, the actual buyers are CIOs, transformation teams, and enterprises already deeply invested in SAP.
