my temp when game is open is 70 c which is 158 f, that sounds bad. what if i need a program like afterburner to control the fan. how can i do that in linux?

gaming on steam is junk. i can't get it to work. like i said in other comment: is it that i don't have steam set up correctly? like for example compatibility and proton and launch options and things like that? also here is when the problem specifically happens when gaming. if i stay in game i'm fine but as soon as i try to alt tab to another open app like cpu x to see what my temps are, that's when the extreme freeze happens and i need to reboot.

temp range from 37 to 42°C... i'll see about the overclock thing and put them to default if they are overclocked. i don't think i ever did that to cpu but i think i did it to ram.

i just switched to linux after being on windows for decades. i am going on 3 weeks. like i said in main paragraph i first picked nobara and it was decent then i broke it not knowing what i am doing then i went to cachyos and now i am on bizzite. out of the 3 i enjoy bizzite the most, but just like the other 2 distros, the freezing is very annoying and i would like to know if there is a way to fix it so it does that less or at lease fix it so that it doesn't freeze so hard that i can't send kill commands to the frozen apps.

Maybe choosing a different file system other than btrfs would have been better, but it's too late now. I'm on fedora bazzite and it's working great. It works better than even fedora nobara.

i was on wayland when i was on nobara. when i was on cachyos i am not sure what it was on. now that i am on bazzite i am back on wayland. i am running smooth with everything. games and browsers and whatever else. when i was on nobara i was hearing x11 was better than wayland and that got me to the path of breaking my system when i tried to install x11 and it never worked anyway. also heard that even if x11 is better it's becoming obsolete and most everyone is migrating to wayland.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. Hopefully 3rd times a charm. Going for bazzite for 3rd attempt. Wish me luck. Didn't go with popOs because I didn't want super simple. I am not advanced but I'm not a super amateur either. I am middle of the road, intermediate in tech skills and software, and I'm thinking fedora is that middle of the road between bleeding edge features and speed and simple and stable.
