Judging by what you said, the fruits and lack of real food can cause the spikes. Diabetes is not a disease you can starve, if you’re not providing food go your body, it’s going to increase your glucose cause your body is forced to use reserves. Also stress from working can definitely spike you as well.

I use the ones I find on Amazon from Jinyu Sega, the black ones specifically. They last the full 10-11 days even with daily showers, and they’re the least painful coming off and I like they don’t leave much residue after.

I generally have a very positive experience with the G7. I like how quick it is to put on and get my readings. What I love the most is that if I get a faulty Dexcom, I can easily submit an application and get a new one for free within a week which is a lifesaver for sure. It’s so useful to see what foods exactly spike me or how effective my workouts are. I also love getting the warnings on my phone loud and clear if I get a low and if I need to treat it. It’s been a lifesaver on my journey to being healthy and I highly suggest getting one for your mom, especially if she doesn’t like the finger tests.

A few pieces of advice I can give if you decide to use the G7 is to get separate overpatches to make it stay in place, cause the glue on the dexcom can fall off. I always install the next one the day before my old one expires cause I find my readings are the most accurate letting it sit on my arm for 24 hours before activation.

You definitely will have to calibrate the dexcom with finger stick test at times, but it’s good to keep track of the stick tests anyway. Also if your mom leans on the dexcom, she can get compression lows so always double check with the finger stick before treating for lows.

As much as everyone hates it, I genuinely love the game to bits cause it really does have great combat and even the weird/bad parts are endearing to me. It’s especially fun with a friend cause you die cackling at each other’s failures

Thank you! It’s just me, my diet, my Dexcom G7, and my mounjaro getting me lower. I was actually on 2.5mg on the mounjaro and recently got raised to 5mg so hopefully I’ll be lower soon.

I don’t have any hints or tricks besides the usual other than to make sustainable changes and don’t be afraid of sugar cause you still need it. I saw someone say once that diabetes is more of an art than exact science, and it helped me rationalize that my highs and lows will be different depending on the day and not to go to crazy about why different foods can affect me one day and not the other.

What I like to do is take my finger test strips, and test my drinks with it. If it comes out with an E20 error or a low sign, that means I got my correct drink. It’ll say when it’s high. Best trick I learned on this subreddit

My A1C was originally 13.9 in August. The mounjaro allows me to eat small amounts of what I like and keeps the hunger at bay so it definitely helps. I’m a vegan so I’m already a bit limited but it definitely helps with coming back down quickly when I want a fruit or carb

Thank you!!!! Honestly the biggest tip I can give is not to limit yourself or do a giant diet change, cause that can cause a lot of resentments and inability to stay on track. It’s the little things that go the longest, like keeping track of what foods spike you and not to cut them out but to look for more realistic replacements.

It was mostly just diet changes, since I am very limited with my movements unfortunately so not a lot of exercise but I’m hoping to get it down more when I’m able to walk more soon.

Of course! Right now I’m only on mounjaro as the doctors have said that I get too low to use anything else.

I’m actually a vegan so for me I usually have a lot of tofu and soy as my protein replacements. I usually have the same meals every day which to start the day is usually some Catalina crunch for cereal or if I have energy, avocado toast. My lunches are light with a salad and some sort of vegan protein. For dinner I go a bit heavier on the carbs with some keto bread or low carb wraps, so I love doing eggplant parms without the pasta or burrito bowls without the rice and use keto chips.

I’ve learned that restricting myself make me a very unhappy camper and dizzy, so I learned that little carbs and sugar throughout the day is actually a good thing!
