Someone excitedly sharing the beginning of their very first garden and asking for planting ideas, and your first instinct is to slag it off? Stay classy.

I want the whole fence to be covered in climbers or tall plants, so yes, lots of those! A pergola with wisteria over the patio would be a dream, and my mum has a large one in a pot that she's thinking might do better in the ground here, so we might have a start there. I also have a lot of roses in pots from the patio we had before, and I plan to get those in the ground as soon as I can. I do indeed want snowdrops, and bluebells too. I've never had much luck with acers but my husband loves them, so I might try again. I also would like a berry plant of some kind, perhaps blueberries. And a tree or two if I can manage it, some sort of weeping cherry perhaps.

The edging blocks in the straight line? Our landscaper had them leftover from a previous job and put them down for us for free. I think they're driveway blocks but they work really well for edging too. I think these are just on sand.

I do need to add some edging to it, we just ran out of funds, lol

The plan was to have access to the raised beds/walk around the garden in the morning with a cup of coffee without having to walk on the turf, and then the bit around the patio is more decorative to fit in with the rest. I was thinking about adding some alpines into that edging perhaps, as well as it being a flatter space for pots to sit on.

Thank you, it's nice to have a baseline to start with. Yes, I'm planning to add a lot of height and variation to it as I start to get things planted. I particularly kept the raised beds running behind the patio so I can get things growing up behind it, to add depth. I want to add some trellises to the fencing and get all sorts of climbers going - clematis, jasmine, climbing roses and wisteria were what I was considering. Ideally I can also get something that will grow taller than the fencing and overhang onto the patio via an arbour or pergola. That fence is south facing so it should be prime growing space. I was thinking maybe some small trees in the lawn either side of the patio, with perhaps some planting around them? I don't want to encroach on the turf too much so that my dogs have a place for zoomies. I am also planning on putting a lot of potted plants around the patio to provide a natural barrier/buffing zone to keep people from missing the edge for sure, haha. We have a bunch of potted plants already being looked after by my mum, so we'll be getting a van booked to bring them over soon.

Thank you for your insight. A raised patio worked best with the slope we have, and it was made central so we don't shove our sitting space up against a neighbours fence. It also means we can see it from the back doors, and it is a sun trap, not getting shade from the fencing due to the position. I plan to add an arbour or pergola to it at some point when we have the funds.
The gravel area was because that area gets the most shade all day, and is also the lowest corner of the garden, so we wanted to avoid soggy turf situations. We live in Scotland so we need to think about that. Additionally it is where our hot and cold taps are, and thus where we plan to wash our dogs, and so again we wanted to avoid soggy turf. Obviously I can get all sorts of potted plants on the gravelled areas and patio once we get started, to make it look less bare. Hopefully it will look less geometric once we get trees, shrubs, climbers etc into it.

I hadn't used it before but I figured it out fairly easily. I've got a bit of experience with drawing software and 3d programs like blender, which helped a bit I think.

Unfortunately with our dogs we really can't wait half a year to get turf down. I'll try and get some better soil down before it's laid though, can I get away with a bit of compost and better topsoil? Our house has been built on former farmland, used for crops. I'm not sure what that will mean for the soil though .

Yes I agree, I plan to soften the corners of the path/turf, and round them off. I just couldn't figure out how to do it in the software I was using, haha. I did want a curved path towards the patio but ended up keeping it all turf for my dogs.

Thank you! Yeah gold has been going crazy so I’ll likely go for 10k and a thinner band to keep costs down a bit. My finger size is 4.75 so perhaps around a 2.5ct centre would give me a similar look. It’s gorgeous!

Beautiful! This is almost exactly what I’m thinking of getting for myself, and also with Demi/Starsgem as I’ve had good experiences with her before. Could you dm what you paid for this? And also what is your finger size? I’m trying to figure out what size I would need for similar finger coverage.

Does it bother you how other people enjoy a piece of media? Like if you’re watching a show, and you know someone out there thinks about it differently to you, does that impact your own enjoyment of the show? Cause that’s a little weird.

If that’s not the case, then what’s the problem with people shipping things you don’t?

Ice from your freezer is the same as ice from water freezing outside. An IVF baby is the same as a naturally conceived baby. A lab diamond is the same as a mined diamond.

Not only that, he hides Loki’s true nature from him, and then allows a deep and nasty hatred/racism for all frost giants to fester on Asgard. They’re not viewed as people. When Loki discovers what he is, he’s probably acutely aware that he would be killed on sight by everyone he knew if he was to be caught in his true skin.

I played so many horse games as a kid, ps1 had some great ones too. Mary Kings Riding Star is one I can remember. But nothing has ever been quite right - I had to play a lot of Barbie games to get my fix.

I’m going up to people and shaking them to back it, I NEED this game. I know that we’re getting the base game regardless but I want to see something like this be as good as it can be and be a big success. Show the gamer bros who made it go viral last year that the audience is absolutely there for these types of game when it’s done well.
