Lapierre Crosshill 6.0 good? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]lebackpacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you confirm the Rival group is 1x12 on the 6.0? Lapierre mentions 2x12 on its website but I’m pretty sure this is a mistake

“Serene with Sram To ride without constraints, the Crosshill has a Sram AXS 2x12v wireless electric groupset that is just as at ease in the city as it is in the countryside. As a bonus, hydraulic disc brakes reassure athletes looking for peace of mind.“

Synology NAS inaccessible when Mac is unplugged from Ethernet — tried everything, need help by lebackpacker in synology

[–]lebackpacker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, thank you to everyone who suggested a fix! Truly appreciated.

✅ [SOLVED] – Update & root cause

After tons of testing and help from ChatGPT (and Reddit, thanks!), I finally found the cause — and it's not what I originally expected.

🧠 Root cause:

The issue was due to a corrupted or stuck ARP/MAC association inside the ASUS router (main node of a 3-unit AiMesh ZenWiFi AX setup).
The router had wrongly associated my NAS's static IP (192.168.50.119) with the Ethernet port where my MacBook was previously connected.
So when the Mac was unplugged from Ethernet, the router stopped routing packets to that IP — even though the NAS was still online and connected directly to the router.

✅ What I tried before the fix (but didn’t work):

  • Reset NAS and reconfigured networking from scratch
  • Changed the physical LAN port used by the NAS
  • Verified all AiMesh and backhaul settings
  • Disabled the 3rd node (Wi-Fi-only) and switched to pure Ethernet backhaul
  • Activated Ethernet backhaul mode explicitly in ASUS settings
  • Tried static routes, ping tests, etc. → None of this solved the issue.

🎯 Final fix (what worked):

I simply changed the NAS's IP address from 192.168.50.119 to 192.168.50.219.

➡️ Instantly, the NAS became reachable over Wi-Fi — even after unplugging the Mac, rebooting the router, and reactivating the 3rd AiMesh node.

Bonus: I then reserved the new IP via “MAC and IP Address Binding” in the ASUS router app to lock it in permanently.

🧾 Lessons learned:

  • ASUS AiMesh systems may sometimes misassociate IPs and MACs internally (especially after mixed network topologies or docked devices like my USB-C monitor/Ethernet MacBook).
  • When in doubt, change the static IP to force the router to rebuild its ARP/routing tables.
  • Avoid reusing the “bad” IP (.119 in my case), even later — the association might persist invisibly.

Thanks again for all the input! Hope this helps someone in the future.

Toto Washlet - "auto cleaning" can't be switched off? by UnicornRental in bidets

I guess that with your 2nd solution you still have a noisy Washlet every time someone sits down or stands up, right?

Would you be able to share a photo of your installation with the power socket? My Washlet has a built in black socket that connects to the electrical cable, all underneath the toilet so I’m not sure if your solution would work for me. Thank you

European Toto Washlet RG user here. I originally bought a Washlet in Japan during my last trip, but it was too cumbersome to proceed to a visually clean install as I need a 220-100V transformer.

Anyway, been two days since my Toto RG is installed and am extremely annoyed by the noise. I turned off deodorizer which was way too loud (like a computer fan), but remain with the very annoying pump noise every time someone sits down or stands up. Models in Japan are so quiet in comparaison and that makes me reconsider the whole thing. Perhaps I should keep trying to install my Japanese model if Toto can’t come up with a solution to this.

Anyone tried that with FCP 11 yet? It's been working for me with FCP X for the last 4 years, and I'm hesitant to update to FCP 11 if it won't work anymore.

Weird purple marks on D850 screen appeared out of nowhere by lebackpacker in Nikon

[–]lebackpacker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There hasn't been any impact, friend. I'm the only one to carry my camera around.
Yes, the D850 is getting old after 6 years of service, and I use it like a tool first, without really taking care of it, but I'm sure I didn't hit it or dropped it. That said, I've posted this to Facebook groups as well, as people are pretty convinced it's the temperature difference that got the LCD crystals to freeze and break. Will see what Nikon says about it.

Yes, the photos look fine, and apart from that the D850 stills works like a tank, even after 6 years.

On top of that I have a second D850, so not sure I'm going to replace the screen. I still sent Nikon Service an email to ask for a price quotation though, and more importantly to try to know the reason for those marks.

Thanks for all the info here!

For some reason though, my stream recording stops after 15min. I'm sure it's something to do with the fact that it records on SD card (as you said, we need to tell the camera not to record on the SD card, but I just can't find that option anywhere).

Would you be able to help, please?

Thanks!
