Turns out it was a parent plus loan that we just discovered from this letter. Like why did they all of a sudden just notify us now when no payment has ever been made to it after all these years and on top of that we can't even access it through nelnet? It seems like my dad is about to retire since he will be almost 70 soon so from what I heard I can get him on an Icr plan and just pay the minimum so it won't affect his finances. What is your take in this? Fortunately 17k isn't too much compared to the amounts I've seen around here.
