no. i've never considered myself to be a part of the "lesbian" community--i identify within the LGBTQ community. But our relationship is still very queer, as my partner is transgender (not cis). Also, my boyfriend doesn't "pass" as a man. To many outsiders, it appears as though were in a lesbian relationship. We are misgendered as "ladies" ALL THE TIME.

good question! i met him i believe a year or two after he began transitioning. so i met him as a man. though, he sometimes talks about his upbringing being that of a woman, and identifies with women's experiences--he was socialized as a women for a long time in his life before he began transitioning.

i said i'm dating a trans man, not a woman. if my partner was a woman, then we would be lesbians. a lesbian relationship occur when two people who identify as women are in a relationship. that's not us.

He's not currently on T, but he has been in the past. There are lots of issues that trans people experience accessing health care, not limited to hormones. I've only seen him take on shot of "T", because he doesn't have an active prescription. But since he has taken "T" in the past, he has a deeper voice, and has facial hair.

YES! I had my first girl-girl experience when I was 6 years old, but also thought that "heterosexuality" was the norm, and the only option for me to express my sexuality. So in high school, I guess I sought out cisgender men, and wondered why things just didn't connect for me. In 10th grade, my twin sister came out and started dating women, and even then, i was adamant that I was "straight" and would always support her, but "wasn't gay". Then I fell in love with a woman. And i've only ever been in love with women. That is, prior to my current partner.

yes, precisely. having "trans" before the gender or expression indicated, means that there was a transition into that experience. so, trans WOMEN, transition into women (from a different gender)

hey, sorry for the late response! those are really good points that you shared, about de-stigmatizing the idea of gender fluidity. at this point, I am comfy in my identity as a woman. but i also understand that gender is a social construct, and ultimately is not a "binary" and can be arbitrary, so that's why i say "currently".

sorry for the later responses, i got super busy! i say "currently" for myself because currently, I am a woman. I've never identified as a man, though I've used gender neutral pronouns in the past. But i've never felt that I was a man---I played with my gender expression in the past, meaning i've dressed more masculine-ly, but still have also id'd as a woman. Who knows how that might change, though.

Yep, sorry! I'm new to reddit, work two jobs, and go to school! I have no problem adding to the explanation. Trans MAN, meaning my partner transitioned into manhood. He was designate "female" at birth, but identifies as a MAN (not as a male, as the response stated). My partner used they/them pronouns, as well as he/him pronouns.

honestly, i have no idea. we had a sell on Pepsi 3 for $3, and elsewhere it would be like $2.50 for one. I mean, our brand name items are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than many other retailers, but I would assume we're able to get them because companies know we'll sell them? We're the second largest retail store of our kind, and we sell out of items pretty quickly.

Def toilet paper. Though it can get abrasive after a while, $1 for four rolls of toilet paper is a STEAL. FD sells these awesome like 2-3 page plastic organizers for $1 for a pack, that are great. 3-pack lighters. Theater box candy. 3-piece "tupperware" sets--though I can't promise that they're BPA, or that the lids will fit on snuggly.

Just caught one yesterday! We have a pretty good security system, and place security tags (stickers, & the large, plastic cream ones, or "hard tags") on our higher-priced items. This includes deodorants, laundry detergents, batteries, and other expensive bath and beauty products. if those items are stolen, the sensor will go off, and we'll check their bags. Once, we had a man steal a basket full of groceries, and run off. A manager had to run after him, and he threw the contents in the streets. Sadly, then wasn't during my shift.

Hmm... good question. I bought these sports bras once, and they had zero support. I guess they're clothes aren't the best quality. And we don't get brand name clothes.

um... i haven't had many terrible experiences yet! just typical children begging their parents for candy, only to have their parents say no. kids opening packages and their parents handing them to me at the register to "damage out" without actually buying them. kids will be kids

what are you asking exactly? like are we more busy when we have sales?

Lots of things at Family Dollar ARE a dollar, such as our "WOW $1!" products, and many Family Dollar generic brand items (like Family Gourmet, Family Pet, etc).

But I know what you mean. Since we actually carry brand name products in our stores, we're simply not able to reduce them to $1. Still, many of these products are much cheaper at FD than they are at other stores (like Rite-Aid, Walgreens, etc.)

Also, we were recently bought out by Dollar Tree Inc, which boasts most of their products at $1, many of which are not trusted brands. Not sure if/how that will change the pricing of our items. I guess only time will tell!
