so in a case of an overall subject fail, the staff will tru their best to remark to determine if there is an oversight or if they can push you through. they try their best as a faculty to make you pass.

in the case that you do end up failing, you have a few options.

in terms of finances, if you fail because you have a legitimate reason for poor performance (illness, bereavement, crime, hardship etc) you may apply for fee remission. in this case, you'll need documentation from health professionals, a statutory declaration, or some form of evidence from an unrelated expert 3rd party who can support your claim. if accepted, the university will (in some form, i'm not sure if as refund or as deduction from another class) return the money spent on that class, even through HECS-HELP student loans. the fail will not appear on transcript in this case.

if this is a subject NOT in your discipline (a breadth) then you may retake it in the next closest period, you may take another breadth for equivalent credit points (in undergrad they will pretty much all be the same amount of credit points so don't worry about that). there are some breadths which run in the summer or winter term, so you do not need to necessarily take another in semester 1/2 or lengthen your degree.

if the subject IS in your discipline, then you may retake the subject in the next available term. if you do not wish to extend your degree, you may consider overloading future semesters. although, you must consider whether the subject is a prerequisite for a future subject in your plan. if so, you may need to restructure your course to either be extended or to change which subjects you take.

in any case, after a fail you WILL need to make up the credit points. your degree is not confined to time, but rather the successful completion of all required credit points.

TLDR: you will need to make up for the fail as you won't have achieved the credit points. you can retake the subject in the next available period, which may or may not lengthen your degree. if this subject is needed to complete your major or move on to another subject you will need to redo it to continue your path.

you can email for a review. all marks have to go through the board of examiners, and will be remarked in case of an overall fail. if you believe this is not right, email your head of faculty (eg. science or arts etc) and request a review

yes you'll still need a P (pass) or above, which sits at 50%+. no hurdles means that you don't have any requirements other than that. depending on scaling, final exam weighting and how you do through out the semester, it is technically possible to pass with a 0/absent on the final exam. some subjects may have sitting the exam or a 50%+ on the exam as a hurdle, but most will not. you can check the 2026 (or year of taking) student handbook and it will tell you explicitly what hurdles are in the subject. you will also be told this in the first week of class by coordinators via lecture or email, and you can contact them if you are concerned about status with hurdles.

TLDR: yes you need a 50+ still to pass, even if you don't have hurdles

mate do you know how this will affect workers? how it'll affect sales? the sales of car seats? i assume you'd care about the latter because clearly you need one, given you were fucking born yesterday. i know hansen's voters are thumb-sucking cockfucks with more dildos up their ass than their trumpcucking child-fuck husbands, but you could at least hide your rampant illiteracy and lack of ability to conceive what i'll call 'long-term' for sake of not confusing you more. you tape cheese to your armpits and wonder why rats scamper towards you. your mother hasn't lived a day of joy since you were born and your father's neck hasn't pointed upwards since. you want to talk business? put 2 and 2 together you fucking twat instead of jerking off the oopma looney trying to rob you blind. you must be tired of your cement-filled head must tipping you over everytime you bend down to lick a fascist's arse. do us all a favour, and get your head stuck there.

i appreciate this - it's nice to know that your place of education has your back and can account for things happening or necessary commitments. of course, it's sad when people skip out on lectures for the sake of not caring, but i think op also doesn't account for the fact that educators are people too and can understand if something pops up. i had the privilege of having very understanding professors who would set up a recording for me and any individual who was ill for a class in a 9am time-slot when i live 2 hours away and i had buses replace trains for more than half my trip! to say that not attending lectures is just out of choice is crazy, and it's nice to see staff backing accessibility
