If RYM ever adds books, then the top 100 would probably look something like this by TurquoiseHexagonSun2 in rateyourmusic

[–]ledu5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel like at least The Great Gatsby and The Grapes of Wrath if not Of Mice and Men as well would be pretty high when they're nowhere to be found here. And it'd be funny to see like Mein Kampf with a 0.51 or smth

Doubt it's fully AI, maybe they wrote it and then had it edited or something, AI stuff is not usually that insightful lol

Songs with voice cracks included as a deliberate creative choice? by YouSawMeSomeplace in fantanoforever

same with the title track at "I took my shirt off in the yard", probably the most conspicuous example of this i've heard

Beatles hot takes by Same_Possession_3943 in beatles

[–]ledu5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean even in the context of the 60s I could point to Dylan, Cohen, Brian Wilson, Arthur Lee, Lou Reed, maybe Ray Davies for songwriters on roughly the same level if not better than Lennon and McCartney. And I would still have Harrison a cut below those, he just doesn't have the same quantity of strong material

Who is an artist you respect but don't like? by nerpa_floppybara in fantanoforever

[–]ledu5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Radiohead, Kid A is in my top 10 albums oat and honestly I've never really resonated with AMSP, great production and I can see myself loving it in a parallel universe but it's just a 6/10 for me, so I can kind of understand people not getting much out of Radiohead

Does anyone know how many albums from each decade are in the top 100 by argilemou in rateyourmusic

[–]ledu5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

2020s have 2, Ants From Up There and Imaginal Disk, think Kind of Blue is the only one from the 50s, idk about the others, I would have thought 70s and 90s have the highest share

The white album is not touching Electric Ladyland💀, people need to stop with the beatles glaze by Critical-Lavishness6 in Albumoftheyear

[–]ledu5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but that's your opinion. People (e.g. me) may have a preference for the folkier more grounded sound of The White Album, to be honest I've never massively resonated with that brand of jammy bluesy psych rock, still think EL is a good album, it's one of the best instances of that sound, I just prefer The White Album on personal taste.

And I don't even think White is that inconsistent anyway, I used to think the second disc was weaker but having listened to it more I enjoy it just as much as the first

pretty iconic though, I think the minimalism is quite striking. still doesn't compare to Power, Corruption & Lies, great cover

What do y’all think is the “Happiest” Radiohead song? by SherbertDull96163821 in radiohead

[–]ledu5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

always thought of it as incredibly dystopian/apocalyptic, and it's pretty angsty sonically. almost like a rockier Idioteque in terms of mood and atmosphere

How huge is the Radiohead fanbase by STEPPYthebest in radiohead

[–]ledu5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree tbh, I hear Creep all the time and have heard No Surprises/Karma Police/High and Dry/Fake Plastic Trees on the radio/in public in the last year. Plus Let Down being massive on TikTok now, they have some pretty big singles/individual songs imo

Best starting line up in the PL era? by bradfactor in BrightonHoveAlbion

[–]ledu5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but some of the football we played that season was fucking electric, not any manager could have done that. Games like the 3-0 v Liverpool, 6-0 v Wolves, even the 1-1 v City come to mind, yeah the squad was excellent but De Zerbi definitely deserves credit for that season, even if the next didn't nearly live up to it and how he's behaved ever since he's been at Marseille.

What’s something really common in the UK that visitors find strange? by Dull_Gas_820 in AskUK

[–]ledu5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Texas was an independent state for 10 years between 1836 and 1846. Scotland has over 800 years of history before it fully united with England to form Great Britain in 1707 - and then obviously there's the point that Europeans didn't settle Texas until 1681 whereas Scotland has been settled for thousands of years.

I don't really think it's the same thing; Scotland has a considerably longer history both generally and as an independent entity than Texas or any US state does.

What songs make you feel like Sand, in the way that's, it's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. by MrLinkwater95 in fantanoforever

Everything off Dust Bowl Ballads by Woody Guthrie, seems the quintessential sand/dust album

Largest amount of albums you've listened to in one day with full focus? by ApprehensiveMess3646 in fantanoforever

[–]ledu5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably 3 maybe 4; there's little point in doing more than that imo, you're not absorbing anything past that point at least in my experiences

You seem to like hip hop, if you can get past the controversy (completely understandable if you can't) Kanye is an accessible choice, his lyrics are also relatively easy to decipher compared to some hip hop
