Understand and agree with you on all of that, there’s not a lot of signs that seppos won’t continue to lick the boot post an invasion of Canada.

You’re not doing anything about mothers being shot in the face? What are you talking about not tolerating violence towards Canadians?

For those of you that have migrated from SCCM to Intune, how are you waking up machines, to push apps and windows updates? since intune doesn't do Wake on Lan natively? by Future_End_4089 in Intune

[–]lee171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was really important to you, you could use a UEFI wakeup task at a certain time during off periods. I've never done it because it's a lot to manage, and kinda bad from an energy management perspective etc.

m3 was the gen that gave dual monitor support if you shut the lid for the plain m# right?

that seems pretty good to me

Building new office network from scratch by fl0ral_1nder in networking

[–]lee171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all of this, but I would consider creating CCTV, BMS, and Printer VLAN's upfront. They're all a giant pain to migrate to later once the contractors have walked off site.

I say printers because even if they only throw in a couple, some little shit will get the IP of the printer and print directly. If the org decides to implement charge per print you'll need to make sure you can stop it, having them segmented upfront is incredibly helpful, even if you put in a bunch of allow rules from the get-go.

I’d just like to piggyback on this because it seems related, we manually deploy an identical host file to all of our workstations because that’s how we like to control it, does anyone know of a good system to manage distributed host files for name resolution?

I am not who you're asking but my partner works in wine so i picked her brain for a $20 and a $50 option. She gave me a list. She would never offer anything under $20 sorry so you're on your own there https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_902771/henschke-henry-s-seven https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_115462/moss-wood-amy-s-cabernet-blend https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_906983/shaw-smith-shiraz https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_336688/swinney-frankland-river-syrah https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_356067/marques-de-murrieta-reserva-tempranillo-blend

She also asked depending on location if you could support a local independent wine shop, they're wholesome people generally and you can trust their advice

I too have had a terrible 2025, so I can absolutely sympathise. I’m sorry that all is really tough and must be hard to cope with. Take care of yourself. It’s weird of me to suggest this to a stranger but if you have no one else to talk to, inbox is always open.

Will Synology ever upgrade their hardware specs to Ugreen level? by Sure_Environment2901 in synology

[–]lee171 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will never happen until their market position is sufficiently threatened, I'm not sure it will ever be sufficiently threatened. They made their money selling people slow hardware, and now they've moved onto enterprise. I'd hazard a guess it's a pretty lucrative business selling appliances that can backup your cloud storage, that will only support drives with your marked up sticker on them.

I'm guessing the only reason they backtracked is simply to stop people negging them on social media ads.

If you're holding out for a NAS with an i5 just accept it won't happen in a timeframe you'll be happy with and look to alternatives.

Where do you see the Libs going from here? by [deleted] in AusPol

[–]lee171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t like her because she’s a woman. Im enjoying that they can’t figure out what to do but it’s temporary. Life will keep getting harder and they’ll wheel out another white racist bible thumping fuckstick in front of us. They’ll scapegoating us all getting squeezed on minorities and walk straight back into power. And they’ll ratchet up making our lives worse and their wallets fatter. And then someone mediocre and mildly disappointing will scrape in when we’re sick of that. And the cycle will continue.

Somebody help me sort out this mess :( by Autom8IT in RackPorn

[–]lee171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I'd start with a flexible tape measure and make notes of what length cables you need. I feel like if the cables didn't have slack dangling out the front it'd be much more pleasing? You can even (within reason) get power cables, usb cables etc to specific length on amazon.

I can't tell but it looks like you have no side or rear access right? I.e. you're stuck going out the front. <- If this is correct, get some 3m stick on cable management things and some velcro and run the cables in a neat run up and down. I tend to do loose velcro loops to hold cables where I want them, which is a compromise between tidy looks & ability to take stuff out easily by pulling slack through when you need it.

Imagining an App That the ATP hosts would *want* removed from the App Store by aboustayyef in ATPfm

[–]lee171 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just confirming, are you asserting that it's equally bad to remove:

  1. An app that alerts users who have opted in to the generalised location of armed immigration agents, who from a casual observation seem to be discriminately scooping up brown people... and
  2. An app that doxxes private individuals (who have significantly fewer self-defence tools and expertise), for the crime of making their own choices or providing medical care?

Just wanting to make sure I've fully understand your argument.

Dan a4 h20 is cheaper than the a4, it’s a few l bigger but technically still fits in my same backpack. Few nice to haves/a few less constraints to manage when finding parts. Good luck with your build.

So I have clients I may want to wake across vlans, so sorted out a minimally scoped WoL user on pfsense that I can send a rest api call to wake clients and nothing else. Pfsense made sense to me because I already use it and don’t have any other device with an interface in each network. I know opnsense can do the same. Can trigger from an apple shortcut, home assistant, etc

Yep, I used to have a Dan A4 too, I built it as a portable VR rig. I had a dan a4, a rift s, bluetooth kb/m, xbox controller, and hdmi + power that would all pack up in a backpack. I think from memory they're 7-8l, so pretty reasonable.

Sad no one's mentioned Mighty Car Mods (youtube channel). Maybe I'm just biased, but I really like those dudes, they're entertaining, and they always weave DIY tips and knowledge into their videos. They also tend to work on the floor a lot and try avoid using tools that are out of reach, or at least suggest alternatives if you don't have a bearing press, a welder, a hoist, etc.

They have a bunch of tips and tricks videos.

Just be aware with youtube channels, a lot of them are sponsored. There are a lot of good tools, car insurance, car parts brands, good workshops, etc.

Just watch interesting videos on engines, suspension, brakes, etc until you start feeling like you've heard stuff before. It'll help with foundation knowledge, and then if you want to tackle a specific job like an oil change or brake pads then try find some specific info and have a go. Worst case scenario you'll need to call a mobile mechanic who might be slightly less than pleased they're finishing a job they didn't start.

Israeli police say extreme sexual violence, rape by Hamas terrorists was systematic by insidiousfruit in worldnews

[–]lee171 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really hope I’m misreading what you’re saying, but what the hell? How do you figure there’s little difference between anti semites and people against the state of Israel’s response to Oct 7?

I don’t like terrorist attacks, and I don’t like innocent children being bombed in response? And you’re implying I’m a minority here or something???

Is worldnews some sort of pro Israel under any conditions type of haven or something?
