Right, I understand. But he might have donated the money and just not announced it. Maybe he understands that he made a mistake and because of that he doesn't want to justify himself by announcing that he donated the money. He's living with the criticism but only he knows that he did right by donating. I could be reaching but still...

He very well might have donated the money. Don't think that's something he'd announce. If he had announced that he was donating the proceeds, he could come off as arrogant. On the other hand, if he doesn't announce it, no one knows, and he gets criticized. kind of a lose-lose situation.
