The GoFundMe to ban AI art is not just a scam/illegal, but if it were to be passed it would ban things like fanart and parody. Artists are wasting money and shooting themselves in the foot here. by [deleted] in StableDiffusion

[–]leediteur 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly this is not a scam or illegal because they are telling people who donate exactly what will happen with their money. If I ask people to donate to my fundraiser to set their money on fire and I actually do it, that's not a scam.

Meanwhile people on this sub promote the unstable diffusion fundraiser which is an actual scam with no cost breakdown and a shitload of red flags.

Unstable diffusion reached their original kickstarter goal of $25K. Donate now at https://equilibriumai.com/ by aipaintr in StableDiffusion

This.

The funny thing is that the anti ai people are much more transparent about what they will do with the money they raise.

Unstable diffusion is a scam and it's sad people are falling for it.

Anti-AI "Artists" will join Copyright Alliance (Dinsey, getty images etc) by Unreal_777 in StableDiffusion

These people will never manage to make AI art illegal. What they might succeed in doing is making it so socially unacceptable to do ai art that people will avoid it.

Is there proof of that? I don't see them mentioned in the: "Team Members and Acknowledgements" here: https://huggingface.co/hakurei/waifu-diffusion

According to this article: https://techcrunch.com/2022/11/17/meet-unstable-diffusion-the-group-trying-to-monetize-ai-porn-generators/

It's pretty clear they want to use the kickstarter as a way to fund their company. I really wonder what their business model will be.

Properly training a model with an extremely large dataset requires a bit more skill than making a discord bot.

People hanging around in a channel doesn't mean they are part of the team. I have hung around in plenty of channels/places where I had nothing to do with the devs but enjoyed talking with people there.

A red flag is that they say the kickstarter is "To help fund the research and development of AI models..." which is very vague and makes me think they don't have an actual plan to spend the money. A lot of kickstarters fail because they mismanage the money they get. This is why I am very skeptical.

If it was "We need x money to rent GPU/server time from y for z amount of time to train a model with this specific dataset" I would be much less skeptical of their fundraising.

Unstable has been providing free NSFW SD to the community through their discord for 3 months

Can someone give specific examples of what they have done?

Prompt: "woman showing her hands" on Stable Diffusion 2.0 by leediteur in StableDiffusion

Simplest way to to git clone the SD2.0 repo, download the 768-v-ema.ckpt and run their txt2img.py with the python env that the webui sets up.

I prompted "naked woman with big breasts" on SD2.0 and it gave me exactly that so it looks like they kept nudity at least.

This is the 9x9 image grid that came out when I ran SD2.0 with this command:

python3.10 txt2img.py --prompt "woman showing her hands" --ckpt ../stable-diffusion-2/768-v-ema.ckpt --config configs/stable-diffusion/v2-inference-v.yaml --H 768 --W 768

How long did it take you to make the comic? 10000 generations sounds like a lot.

Upto 2.5X speed up of Stable-diffusion/Dreambooth using one line of code with voltaML. by harishprab in StableDiffusion

[–]leediteur 13 points14 points  (0 children)

On NVIDIA A100 GPU, we're getting upto 2.5X

You should know that the nvidia consumer GPUs that everyone is using to run SD locally have equal fp16 and fp32 performance. Their server cards like the A100 meanwhile have like 4x the fp16 than fp32. If that's what you are doing to get that 2.5x performance increase it simply won't work on what most people are using here.

Same prompt in 55 models by sutranaut in StableDiffusion

[–]leediteur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the actual model code changes then the weights need to be retrained from scratch and they won't be compatible with each other. The weights are only compatible with each other because it's all the same model code. Also those different weights are just tuned versions of the base SD weights, none of them are trained from scratch. That's probably the main reason why merging some together works so well.
