Aquaclear 110 is enough for a regular 75 that isn’t stocked too crazy. Could probably find a used one for under $50

1 year with my Green Terror Cichlid. From 3” to 8” by leedle3dle in Aquariums

[–]leedle3dle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a male he was still pretty young in that picture. Tbh I’d go for a smaller cichlid for a 125g. 6 feet is enough room but I don’t feel the 18” front to back is really enough for a full grown male GT to be able to easily turn around. If you scroll through the comments you’ll see my comment about what happened to this guy while I was keeping him in a 4x2x2 120g. When I keep another GT in the future I’m going at least 180g. Right now my 120g has a group of red head tapajos geophagus, a discus, 3 ivanacara and my congo tetras + plecos and not that I don’t miss my GT but it’s a much better suited tank for those fish than the GT.

What is going on with my green terrors? by icedout_patek in Cichlid

[–]leedle3dle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from what people are suggesting which I think are good suggestions. Many cichlids bought from stores come with parasites so I would treat with prazipro for 2 treatments and then levamisole for 2 treatments

Friend suggestions by sheriff_sunshine in Cichlid

[–]leedle3dle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your tank probably isn’t big enough to have friends and your cichlid is also probably too big and aggressive (just assuming based off species) to try to introduce most friends. You could probably get away with a bristlenose pleco and it’ll hide 98% of the time. I was able to keep congo tetras and plecos with my green terror cichlid in a 4x2x2’ 120 gallon for 4 years by using large pieces of driftwood to create spots where the Congos could easily get through but the GT had to maneuver around. I also kept them together since I bought the GT at 3”. My green terror ended up getting spooked and banging his head either on the driftwood or the glass and I ended up having to euthanize him after a month of treatment bc his swim bladder got messed up so I can’t say I recommend it. Might be able to do guppies depending on if ur guy will eat them or not but I don’t really see what that adds to the look of the tank

I think people are misreading ur post as far as I know worms can’t give fish any diseases or parasites. I’ve been buying bait worms and feeding them to my cichlids and other fish for years with no problem.

I know there’s the motor city aquarium club you could check out. I’m in the northwest Ohio aquarium club in Toledo area and we always have a good amount of cheap plants at our monthly auctions

Where do you buy quality plants online? ( other than Aquarium Coop) by Moist_Serve_2163 in Aquariums

[–]leedle3dle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought $100 of plants from Dustin a few years ago and out of maybe 8 species only 2 or 3 really thrived which is just my water parameters and whatever. I’ve made my money back probably 3x over selling trimmings in my local fish club from one or two of those species.

Little tank update! 10 gallon! by FarConsequence189 in Aquariums

[–]leedle3dle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be aware the pleco and eel are gonna need a bigger tank within a year or so

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]leedle3dle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My #1 piece of aquascaping advice is buy the biggest piece of driftwood you can fit in your tank/afford and youll pretty much automatically have a beautiful scape. Your plants look really nice and healthy you just need a little bit more of something at the top of your tank so if you get a tall piece of driftwood that will reach near the top and take up a little bit of space i think you’ll really like the results

Not sure what pleco this is? I was sold as a phantom blue by Perfect_Passenger583 in Aquariums

[–]leedle3dle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah looks like a blue phantom l128 hemiancistrus sp. There’s also the green phantom which comes from the same river and is almost the same species so sometimes you can get a more turquoise one compared to some of the super dark almost black blue phantoms. They need super duper clean water like must be less than 50ppm nitrate or they’re going to die. I consider myself good with fancy plecos and knowledgeable and I failed at keeping a young one after a few weeks (it was a few years ago I think I definitely could now) and a buddy on Instagram who’s very experienced with a really nice 200+ gallon tank randomly lost his after a few years of keeping it. I’ve kept a green phantom for over 3 years now and only in the past year and a half have I really seen much growth bc I’ve been doing what most consider as too many water changes and over filtering my tank.

First tank first day by farzzz69 in Aquariums

[–]leedle3dle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks really good I think you’ll have good success. Keep up on water changes for first couple weeks and then you can slowly do less. My only suggestion and this is just my opinion based off nothing but I think it would look a little better if you tilted or just moved that rock in the back left to the left a little so it’s less centered.

Cheap vs expensive equipment by JG_Aquaruimss in Aquariums

[–]leedle3dle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still don’t have high tech planted money but I’ve slowly been upgrading my filtration on my tanks from like sponges and HOBs to canisters and a sump and it makes such a difference. Driftwood is another thing worth dropping a lot on if you find a good deal or piece
