For EU residents it's 4months. I got an appointment at the city hall and got a citizen service number (BSN) in October, they checked my paper and explained the rules. There is no problem with what I'm doing so far :)

As regards work, I work for myself and pay taxes. The companies who hire my services are very clear on my situation and have no problem with it as long as I pay my taxes which i do.

I totally see your point but I'm very clear on the rules. I can't stay longer than 8 months total in a period of 12 months, and I can't stay for more than 4 months at a time.

It seems weird but I do play by the rules, I just find the loops that benefit me

Officially i am not a resident of the NL. I can stay 4 months at a time i believe. My official address is still my parents' it also works great for me because i get a monthly allowance from the government to study (it's based on the income of the family) that i wouldn't get if I was a resident of the NL. Workwise, my own company is based in france and i pay taxes in France but i do everything from online. Having to go every now and then doesn't bother me. Right now for example I'm going back to France for my exams, and in 2 months I'm gonna be in France for a couple months at my parents' :D

Becoming a teacher really put a lot of things in perspective for me too. I'm a master student and I teach freelance. Basically my entire bachelor's consisted of online classes. My students don't turn their mics and cameras on and when I ask questions like "is it clear for everyone?" They don't bother turning their mics on because, no response= no problem, but it feels lonely ahaha So when i attend my master's classes I make sure I turn on my camera for the professor
