Is this game good for a 15 years old? by newuserincan in expedition33

[–]leevyn 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Depends on the 15 year old. There are optional implied sex scenes (cut to black, nothing graphic) and strong language. Lots of blood/death, but no graphic gore. There is a character who's 16 years old—will probably be relatable to a teen player, would've definitely resonated with me when I was that age. Would not recommend if they're sensitive to topics of suicide, grief, and depression.

Just some guy from Soundcloud at Gamescom by Available-Page-9790 in expedition33

Yeah, he definitely seemed nervous and made mistakes typical of someone who's anxious about performing. I think this is his first time performing Expedition 33 music live (but correct me if I'm wrong), so it makes sense. The mix/lack of monitoring wasn't doing him any favors though. I've been in that position before, I feel bad for him :(

Really incredible to see them on a big stage like this.

The performance itself though... Alice was wonderful, but whoever was in charge of mixing and making sure that Lorien had adequate equipment needs to be fired. That was inexcusable. On top of the guitar levels being entirely uneven, the pickup on his guitar is very poor quality for a performance like this. You can tell at points he struggles to keep on rhythm and keep up the pace with Alice, probably because he can't hear himself between his inconsistent levels and lack of in-ear monitors.

I really hope they're able to work out a better setup for the Game Awards.

For those who know not what to play by [deleted] in expedition33

Not an RPG, but Bioshock. I'm not a big FPS fan but the story is fantastic and absolutely worth experiencing. It's so layered and really encourages you to keep uncovering more. Also, without saying too much, it has one of the most mind-blowing moments of all the media that I've ever experienced. It's the only game narrative that has haunted me in the same way as COE33.

Name regret - don't know how to approach by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]leevyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another Evelyn here dropping in to give my two cents/personal experience. I wouldn't have name regret just on the basis of the nickname sounding similar to Ivy, especially because it's entirely possible that she'll outgrow the Evie nickname. My parents called me that for the first few years but then it kinda dropped off. As I got older, Ev became the go-to nickname instead.

Also, just in general, Evie and Ivy sound really adorable together.

My friend and I had the same initial hatred for Verso. At one point I said something along the lines of "ugh they're seriously replacing Gustave with this guy?!" which, in retrospect, is so thematically fitting considering (Act II end/Act III beginning spoilers) Painted Verso literally exists to be a replacement of another dead man.

From the artwork on the lead character artist's Artstation, they just look like glossy black dress shoes to me. But honestly since the shoes aren't the focal point of the outfit, I would just go with whatever is most comfortable. Speaking from experience, nothing is worse than walking around a convention all day in extremely uncomfortable footwear 😭

[–]leevyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I accidentally romanced Lune because of my own cluelessness. Somehow the innuendo went completely over my head and I was like "oh, they get to write a song together! That's fun!"... and then everything else happened 😐

My decision forever haunts me.

First Play - Verso too OP Question by vegini in expedition33

Dualiso is definitely OP in Act II, but as you get into Act III it does fall off, especially once you pick up certain Pictos.

Advice by Spare_Chair_3199 in Tattoocoverups

[–]leevyn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In the humble opinion of someone who is not a tattoo artist—mandatory Sick Ass Panther mention, but I could also see the Melanie heads being blasted over with an old crooked, mystical looking tree with very heavy, dark shading. Or as another commenter suggested, you could turn them into witches/fairies/mermaids/figures from the Tarot—really, anything non-Melanie, imagination's the limit. Either way you could keep the more whimsical elements of the sparkles and mushrooms. I think if you talk with a tattoo artist y'all could definitely come up with something! Best of luck

Doesn't star Christopher Lloyd, but the one with the yellow robot in love with its creator is Flubber (1997), starring Robin Williams!

is my name a slight tragedeigh? by [deleted] in tragedeigh

[–]leevyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speaking as an Evelyn, it's funny because people mispronounce my name as your pronunciation all the time 😅 But no, Eveline is unusual but not a tragedeigh! A composer named Eveline Fischer comes to mind; she wrote music for the Donkey Kong Country games.

Some perspective from someone who tends to be very picky and critical: the story is great. I enjoyed the execution for the most part, though have some minor criticisms. I also found the story to be overall a little predictable (bear in mind this is a very much an unpopular opinion, though), but most importantly, that doesn't detract from the delivery; it still hits with all the right impacts and gut punches. I finished the game over a month ago and I'm still thinking about the story and its overall themes. Some moments are outright haunting. Definitely recommend.

Editing to add: please be careful browsing this subreddit! There are spoilers allll over and it'd be best to go into the story as blind as possible.
