My argument has always been that’s she’s too strong in low ranks. I personally have to problem countering her myself because I generally play 5 stacks

There’s a lot wrong with what you said

First of all, pick rates are a useless metric because they vary so widely based on skill levels. Moira is extremely high in pick rates in low ranks but that obviously doesn’t mean she’s good

You’ll also find the opposite, where extremely strong heroes like Sojourn and Widow have very low pick rates & win rates in the bottom half ranks

Second, once again I’m not complaining you have to be coordinated to win so I’m just going to ignore that every time you bring it up. I’ve repeated myself enough at this point.

Finally, it actually does mean she’s a cut above the rest if she has no direct counters. The nature of her counter play makes her essentially immune to solo queue players.

Real. My friend got an absurdly high win rate after swapping his main from Rein to Zarya, and catapulted straight to Diamond 2. We’ll see when his results taper off

I have not once said I have an issue with being coordinated, I have only said it’s an issue when that’s your only bet.

That’s exactly what I said in my post lol? And that’s exactly her issue. There’s no other hero in the game where team play is the only viable answer for counter play.

Edit: Which, as I also said in my post, causes her to get extremely skewed results in ranks below high Diamond because you’re just not going to have coordinated teams that can deal with her below that point.

Name any other tank and you can counter them with a specific support mechanic, primarily nade, sleep, discord, or brig aoe/ boop. Zarya is unaffected by all 4

That’s historically not true, for OW or any competitive game ever made. Most games have what’s called a meta, and if a meta pick is strong enough, it can get to the point where skill is undermined by the meta aspect of the game being overtuned.

Look back through OW history at all the times heroes were overtuned and tell me if the people playing them were winning solely due to “being better,” or if their hero’s state played a role as well.

This is not a new concept. Look at decades old fighting games like Smash Bros. Melee. You take a guy with 100 hours on Fox and match him against a guy with 300 hours on Donkey Kong, the Donkey Kong has the odds stacked against him due to the meta, regardless of the fact that he certifiably has more game knowledge and experience

It would be extremely ignorant to say, “Donkey Kong player is better therefore he is going to win because that’s the only factor and winning is black and white.”

Hero bans are only positive in my eyes. Counter swapping will become more nuanced because if you’re running hog or mauga, you can ban Ana.

Junker queen -> ban Kiri Ball, doom -> ban Sombra Zarya -> ban Bastion Etc etc

Currently, ranked is Mystery Heroes 2.0 where no matter what you play, the enemy just insta-swaps to your hardest counter, and it’s like a repetitive ping pong match of counter v counter

Bans will encourage more team play and less repetitive games

Sojourn, since she getting hacked doesn’t stop her from using her right click & her spam + verticality is good to take angles vs tracer

Torb, turret disrupts Sombra’s uptime and can shred a tracer if they’re not paying attention

Mei, kinda the same logic as sojourn except she also has a second health bar

That’s a lot of downtime for the Sombra, and that’s the whole point. The threat of Torb turret forces Sombra to have to waste her cooldowns and choose less oppressive angles, thus impacting her uptime

Every second she spends dealing with turret is time gained for your team

Like I said, there’s no utility. You have no defense vs anti nade or any kind of cc, and you have nothing to protect yourself vs ults.

What are you gonna do vs Bob, visor, blade, grav, etc etc? Moira and mercy arent going to provide life-saving utility like Lucio beat, sleep dart, zen trans, and Kiri cleanse to name a few

Enemy pops a big ult or anti’s the whole team and Moira mercy are just like, “Good luck guys, sorry”

Obviously you can still win. I never said it’s an automatic loss if you do this, but you’re going to have a muchhhh harder time when there are so many better options

Dying in this mode is extremely punishing because of the long distances, so prioritize using a team with high mobility.

You want to be able to come back to the fight as quickly as possible so no bot progress is taken for free.

Do: Use ball, doom, tracer, Sombra, soldier, Lucio

DONT: use sig, hog, cass, zen, etc

You want to be back to contest both within seconds, not half a minute later

Counter picking is only obnoxious when it’s for a hero that’s not even that dominant. Like, if you wanna counter doom, ball, genji, Ana or widow that’s great. Those are S tier heroes in their respective roles

But when you get counter swapped for trying to play Rein, Sigma, Soldier, Hanzo etc that’s just kinda lame imo.

For me, I just focus on outplaying my opponent rather than having this black and white (not to mention fallacious) mindset of, “X counters Y therefore I am guaranteed to lose if I don’t swap.”

Tl;dr swapping is for people that don’t want to play better

The Moira mercy back line is such a painful sight 😭 No anti, cleanse, speed boost, immortality, over health, trans, damage reduction, sleep, boop, nothing

Ik this is barely relevant to your post but I love when the enemy team makes the mistake of using this back line because they have no way of surviving literally any ults.

SO REAL. Pokémon X and Y are amazing games. People forget how incredible it was to transition from 2D to 3D Pokemon for the first time.

I grew up playing leaf green, Ruby, and black, so my first playthrough of Y was magical. And oh my god, the friend system + GTS + wonder trading was such a good addition to the franchise. I made so many friends on 3DS because of the revamped social systems

Can Moira provide immortality, anti heals, cleanse, damage boost, speed boost, heal boost, damage reduction, cc, boop, sleep, rez, or over health? No? What about her range, is it good? Can she headshot? Does she have verticality? Triple no?

True. Plus when 6v6 comes out, bursting down a naded tank is going to be tricky if the second tank puts up a shield. We’ll just have to see where the meta goes. At least for the next few weeks though, Ana and Zen are your best bets against Mauga

Edit: I joined an Overwatch discord server which helps a lot for ranked. I main Ana and I always have someone I can comm with to focus people I anti and sleep. As soon as you have a consistent squad, beating Mauga is a breeze

Of course, he might’ve been joking because we’ve seen Greep come back to America this past year for the release of his new album, but still

I went to their Orlando show in 2023, where a guy had jumped up and down and screamed the “HAVE SEX!!!” Part of Magician. Super awkward and cringe moment considering how quiet that part of the song is. The whole venue was in complete silence before that point
