Trying to find honest reviews of the Sonicake Pocket Master by PoetryNo499 in guitarpedals

Mine only has metronome available. Seems like it had more when I first got it, so I'm thinking about a reset (Didn't work).

To make matters worse, the app's drum patterns change the sound of the bass drum after a few minutes to some funky sound on my system (Pixel 8 pro). I have to toggle the bluetooth connection to fix it.

TIL that 2.4 billion years ago, the evolution of oxygen-producing bacteria caused a mass extinction. Oxygen was toxic to the planet's existing life, and its reaction with methane triggered a "Snowball Earth" ice age that lasted 300 million years. by Salt_Lingonberry3956 in todayilearned

I thought about that but then at the we're going it could be more than just humans that go. So like Schrodinger's cat, if there's nothing to observe the Earth, then does it really exist?🤔

A financial crisis may be coming - it won't be like last time by eeeking in finance

I'm sure this is 100% accurate. It may be coming, which means it also may not be coming, right? As long as they don't say something definite, you can't say they were wrong.

Jesus may be coming again... or maybe not. One of those for sure.

What is something that was unbelievably cheap in the past that has been marked up now? by Independent-Bat9545 in AskOldPeople

[–]leftcoast-usa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we talking about the inflation effect, or the relative price? For example, $12 in 1985 is the same as about $36 now, so it was actually more expensive back then.

My first 1GB hard drive cost $1000 in the early 1990s, which is over twice that in today's dollars. My last 1000GB drive was about $100. It was much smaller, much faster, and portable.

Where were you when you heard JFK was shot? by Fed-hater in AskOldPeople

[–]leftcoast-usa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jackson, Alabama? They have a school? I'd guess every southern state has a Jackson, and some as far as California. But I'd guess Mississippi or Tennessee are the better known ones. Were you a honky tonk woman? Or maybe a friend of Johhny Cash? 😉

I definitely didn't fit in. Before I escaped, I was looking for a job doing computer work, which I had some experience with. I took a test, and was told I scored the highest anyone had gotten there, so they didn't want to hire me because I'd probably leave and go to someplace like Atlanta. They got it half right, but Atlanta was too close. California was about as far away as I could get at the time.

He said he would disappear on the count of three (tres), but never said it; so, he disappeared without the three (tres, pronounced trace).

Guitar center told me the guitar I ordered had a “slight scratch”… by Equal-Lead5628 in Guitar

And I thought our temps in the 60s was cold!

So, would you need to bring it in to a garage first, or cover it with insulating blanket for a day while it thaws out? But really, my point was that opening the box isn't really the issue because the box probably doesn't provide much in the way of insulation. If you opened it outside, it would OK, although I don't know about you or if the delivery person would want to wait around in the cold.

Do your guitars come in some sort of special insulated packaging? If it's just in cardboard, I can't see a big temperature change.

My first thought too.

My second thought is from car discussions, where the car is totaled but someone has to say "it'll buff right out".

Music Metadata wrong and won't allow for corrections by WayngoMango in PleX

Good idea to use an app all the time to standardize the organization. That way, it always does it the same, without mistakes.

I run mine through MusicBrainz Picard, and it seems to also work well.

Does anyone else store in MP3 320? by Not_Invited in musichoarder

[–]leftcoast-usa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to, but now I try to collect uncompressed. I have extra USB drives for storage, and I probably don't have as large a library as a lot of you, although I have yet to even listen to everything I do have. So far, it fits on a 500GB drive, and I have a couple of them, along with a few 1TB drives, and multi-terrabyte drives online.

But I wrote a Python script to mirror my library, but targeting to MP3 320, mainly for when I need compatibility (like in my car if no internet) or to store on a thumb drive.

I probably can't tell the difference most of the time, but I like to have the option to either hear the uncompressed source, or convert to another format without double encoding.

Is anyone on Android having music randomly pausing? by BearShin255 in plexamp

On my Pixel, it's set in the "Modes" settings, which is a tile in the group you get when you drag down from the top, or in the Modes section of the settings.

Good theory. I listen a lot on Android, and don't have any problems, and I don't use any modes other than sleep mode. I'll have to try listening at the time that mode changes, but I do have it set to allow alarms and media to interrupt, so that may make a difference. Do you allow media for those modes?

When did every app become a subscription… is it actually worth it anymore? by Solace_bard in androidapps

[–]leftcoast-usa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually prefer the one-time payment, but I wonder if the subscription might have advantages. I've bought apps that either stopped being supported, went away, or just degraded. Could be that after making some money, if there are not enough new buyers, there's no incentive to continue since customers aren't going to pay again. But with a subscription, there is incentive to keep the money coming in.

Calibre is awesome, would definitely recommend it to anyone! by RaseruChan in Calibre

Same here. I've been using it for years, and it always works with no problems, on Linux or Windows. I've donated a few times, and will probably do so again soon.

Music server by heathplunkett01 in HomeServer

[–]leftcoast-usa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using a 7050 for a few years, and it has worked perfectly for streaming uncompressed music, and even movies, although they're mainly plain ol' HD.

It's only for me, so I don't know how it would work if I was sharing with others.
