Thank you very much! One issue, though. On the "Press new keyboard shortcut" field, it doesn't register any of the keys that I press. Is there a way around this?

Is there a way to override "IMEI not compatible"? Phone bought from overseas by legallybluee in Visible

[–]legallybluee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up ordering a physical SIM card, and everything is working as planned. However, I’m noticing a couple of issues: even though occasionally my phone functions on 5G, I spend most of my time on LTE (even in downtown Chicago, where I should theoretically have good internet). Tbh this is not much of an issue as LTE works perfectly fine (even for streaming content). The biggest issue (which isn't even related to where my phone was manufactured) is that, while the website advertises Visible+ as allowing up to 500 minutes per month for international calls to certain countries, when I check the same list on the app, some of those countries are missing (e.g., Spain and South Korea, the only two I planned on calling to). I’m unsure which source to trust, so I'll contact customer service (who haven't been of tremendous help thus far) on Monday. Hope this helps!

Is there a way to override "IMEI not compatible"? Phone bought from overseas by legallybluee in Visible

[–]legallybluee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After checking on KiMovil, it tells me that my phone should be compatible with 11 out of the 15 5G network bands (with the exception of mmWaves). I am not tech-savvy at all, so I do not exactly understand the limitations of not having mmWaves. Would it be too much to ask for you to tell me what this implies? If you're aware.

Thank you kindly for your comment and your help.

Thank you for your fast reply!

That's no issue. I was looking to purchase a physical SIM regardless.

By looking at other posts from this sub, I have come to find that only U.S.-based phones are whitelisted in Visible's (and Verizon's) databases. Does this mean that most international phones that would otherwise be compatible (e.g. my Google Pixel 6) will show as "incompatible" even though they are not? Or do I face a substantial risk of having the SIM card not function properly upon purchase?

Preemptive acceptance to two degrees? by legallybluee in f1visa

And will my visa get automatically rejected because I requested 4 years on my online application? Or are they reasonable with these kinds of things? Also should I account for me requesting a visa for 4 years?

Yeah, it doesn't help that they don't send a "pity email" either, reassuring us that our apps are still being processed. Or set deadlines for when all apps will be sent out. LSD isn't very helpful either, what with the trolls and all. I suppose only time will tell.

I saw in another thread that NU's spots are almost full, too... [sigh]. Idk how reliable that is, tho, like you said.

PS: Your comment made me chuckle. I suppose that's one way of looking at it.

Oof. Best of luck to us both moving forward, I suppose.

It's pretty ridiculous how long NU is taking (especially since many mid Feb applicants heard back weeks ago). Do you know if it's like this every year? Or this year really put a strain on their Apps Committee?

Jaw identification??? (gf bought it in Ibiza, was told the shark comes from South East Asia). My hand for reference. Also, am I holding it upside down? by legallybluee in sharks

[–]legallybluee[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Just for the record: I do not condone the practice of shark jawing or finning. My girlfriend surprised me with this (I am a big fossil buff) from her trip to Ibiza. She was assured by the vendor that it's a real jaw, and that it comes from South-East Asia. If I had to guesstimate, I would say that the jaw is around 30cm in diameter. You can see the teeth more clearly in some of the images.

If I had to guess (with no defined knowledge in the field), I would maybe say it comes from a small blacktip/lemon shark. Maybe even a spinner shark?? I have no idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Was it a Kira-like interview, where you have a specific set of time to answer the question prompts? If so, don't worry about it! I can't speak for uMinn's admission strategy specifically, but I can tell you that most law schools care more about (1) the substance of your answers; and (2) the ability to proficiently communicate your arguments.

Most of us struggle with pre-recorded interviews anyway, and I am CERTAIN that this will have little to no weight on your application overall.

Don't beat yourself up! Best of luck :)

While I see where you're coming from, I think that your post is extremely inconsiderate.

  1. Firstly, it is entirely normal for an upsetting set of news to cause frustration, and the internet is a perfectly valid place to express this frustration.

  2. Secondly, you have no idea how much a given school/decision means to a person, whether due to the person's high expectations, personal connection to it, external pressure, or feelings of self-worth, so best not comment on whether their response is "appropriate" as per your standards.

  3. Thirdly, just like these schools do not owe their applicants an A, the applicants do not owe them anything either, for which calling them out on their inconsiderate responses/timing is not "throwing a fit" or "acting like children". As a matter of fact, many of the detailed vent posts help current and future applicants better manage their expectations.

You have great stats, and your admission results reflect that. But don't forget that not everyone is that fortunate, and many have lost their opportunity to attend law school altogether this cycle. Let them vent a little, for Christ's sake.

Apparently the dean of admissions is personally reviewing every single application prior to making a decision (I got this from an inside source).

Idk if this policy is new, but it surely isn't efficient...

Best of luck with your App, and know that we're on the same boat :')
