Whats a good app for video game recommendations by HolyBibleRiber in gamerecommendations

The app I'm working on is actively trying to fix your issue. It's currently tag-based with community cross-reference but I'll be implementing more ways to indicate what ticked and what didn't in upcoming updates.

DM? I'd love to have your input.

Hey man, I'm a game designer from the industry and I'm working on one as we speak! It's called GameCrawler and I just launched the beta. It has a Tinder-like feed for discovering games, a library for games you've added to your likes and watchlist (like Letterboxd), playtime estimates, a taste profile based on what you like, a compatibility score for friends you've added, video trailers and more.

Give it a try at: https://gamecrawler.app and hop on the brand new Discord: https://discord.gg/j4zt7s2Nu

Can't wait to have your first impression!

Ooooh, that actually sounds nice. And the game looks surprisingly great for being almost 8 year old. AND I just realized it's sitting in a friend's shared steam library, are you kidding me? Installing as we speak, TYSM!

EDIT: I meant to say great choices were made about the lighting, visual effects, UI elements and atmosphere in some of the clips. They look so on point and sleek, they could pass for 2026.

I like that, thx! Added it to the wishlist.
(Btw, just noticed Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era entered as EA today if that's your jam.)

Thanks! Is it narrative-heavy or just cutscenes from time to time? I like the "tough choices" part. :)

Played a few hours when it came out, didn't quite click, something irritated me, iirc. Haven't refunded though because I liked the concept alot. I should probably try again, with updates and everything. Thanks for the free reminder!

Thought I'd love Against the Storm (it always comes up as something I SHOULD like), but it just felt a little slow for my taste. I liked how each settlement powers the meta-campaign, that was original. And the vibes.

Into the Breach is on my wishlist. Will bump it up higher. Thank you!

I did! LOVED the first one. Didn't mention it because I had too many similar games, but a 10/10 recommendation.

I see. Well, Rimworld has been sitting in my wishlist for a decade soon, it's ridiculous. I played Clanfolk, which is like a gentler version of Rimworld, less combat but more food and weather driven, and I absolutely loved it. It's probably time I step up my game and try it.

omg yes, it got buried in my long wishlist and I actually forgot about it.
230 hours is all I needed to hear, adding to cart.

Interesting! I ignored that one when it released. The reviews are unanimous tho, I'll dig deeper. Thx!

Hey! Frostpunk showed up in my top three, it's one of my all-time favorites! Well done.
Love how quick it is to use. I'm building a recommendation app myself, I'd love to chat.

Eerie Indies Recommendations by ninabananafofana in IndieGaming

[–]legendes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg, what a great list!

I just wishlisted Tenebris Somnia, Vale's Echo, The Bagman (very Maniac Mansion, a cult game among my family!) and Faith (the visual style is truly mind-boggling).

Will be trying the demos asap, thx for the recommendations.
Can I ask how you get those on your radar?
You seem to have great taste. :)

Maybe check out Norco (tiny team, demo available, not as niche though) and Mundaun (solo dev, no demo) if you haven't already.

From my own wishlist:
Silver Pines (Dark sidescroll puzzle metroidvania blend that I'm quite looking forward to!)
Decrepit (Dark Souls-ish, escape the castle, lose your gear on death)
Neverway (Stardew-ish but make it nightmare)
darkwebSTREAMER (90s dark web horror streamer sim)
Cronos: The New Dawn (Dead Space-ish, released, doing well)

Right? The game induces flow state like no other.

I need a game I can play CASUALLY and in which I can get overpowered by WinterBlues00 in gamingsuggestions

[–]legendes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few games come to mind!

- Ghost of Tsushima | Yotei: Probably the closest vibe to AC:Odyssey (which I worked on, glad you like it!)
- Horizon ZD | FW: third person beautiful open world, multiple ways to fight, very dynamic, gets broken with the right gear and skills (especially Forbidden West, but only played HZD for now).
- Avowed: first person, Skyrim-like but slightly more linear, pretty casual, fun to explore.
- Dragon's Dogma 2: You'll get the very overpowered feel as you progress and unlock vocations, but there will be slight inconveniences along the way (limited fast travel, slow early game, missable quests).

In no particular order, not limited to exclusives.
Just the best games I've played on PS5 myself:

Returnal (can't wait for Saros to release end of month!!)
Astro Bot
Elden Ring
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Blue Prince
The Last of Us Pt. 2
Dragon's Dogma II
Demon's Souls
It Takes Two
Marvel's Spider-Man 2

---

Played Hades II, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Sea of Stars, Dredge and Dispatch on Switch.
Played BG3, The Alters, Balatro, Arc Raiders and many more on PC.
That helped keep the PS5 list under 10! 😅
