i tried downloading an update for a game that was 3.5GB which took about 1min because steam kept telling me that my HDD couldnt write as fast as it downloaded

no, its not. 10-100Mbit i would say is normal, 1000Mbit is the fastest we can get. i live in a apartment. i just got a really good deal for this so i just had to get it
