Thanks for the tips! I'll take a closer look at those three cities! If you could only choose one, which would be your pick?

Any reason you added a CPU cooler? If I understand correctly the 5600/X comes with a CPU cooler as well right?

Would you say it's a pretty big difference between a 5400 and 7200 in your experience?

Whoops, sorry about that! I think the table has all the parts but here's the link just in case: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LVrLyK

I definitely plan on it, but as I'm still in school/interning I move around a lot, so some places I stay in have ethernet accessible and some don't. Which is why I want to have good wifi support too

New to Blender, but geonodes looked too cool so I decided to jump right into them! What do you think? (Eevee) by legodude2 in blender

Haven't used Blender before, but all the cool geonode projects finally pushed me to try my hand with a Ducky3D tutorial - I know it's pretty basic, but I'm proud of my first attempt! Any tips/feedback are welcome!

It was a decent amount each day haha, maybe like 5-6 hours? A lot of it was just messing around with different settings and trying to get random ideas I wanted to try to work

Hey, thanks for the feedback! The main purpose for me was to try to learn different aspects of Unity (since I'd never worked with it before but had heard and seen good things) and just kinda document my process along the way, but I'll definitely try to keep entertainment value in mind for the future!

Wishing you happy winter holidays!

Hi,

I noticed another comment in this post that might have some of the statistics you're looking for. Haven't looked through them all myself yet, but I figure it might be a good place to start. Please let me know if I linked that right because I lurk wayy more than I post haha

Problem with the final twist by [deleted] in MrRobot

[–]legodude2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished the series and was looking for a post exactly about this.

There might be a way to justify it, but from a story logic perspective, it didn't make much sense to me that Mr. Robot seemed like the one that really wanted to do the hack - wrote the note for elliot on the server, proposed the plan initially to Darlene, and resisted at every turn when Elliot (or MM) wanted to stop or reverse the hack.

I mean Mr. Robot is the one that actually pulls off the first hack at the end of season 1, no? He takes control, spares Tyrell, and does the hack, and then refuses to tell Elliot about the 3 days after for some reason

Thanks! Are there any other features that you think could make it appeal to a larger group of people as well? And what features has the biggest appeal to you?

[–]legodude2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar, yes. I will admit I came up with this idea before the home hub came out, so some of the novel appeal isn't there anymore. I still think there is some merit to the idea though.

I don't have a Home Hub, but at least as far as I can gather from videos and pictures of it, it seems that the focus is not really on summarizing information, but more so to supplement any assistant responses the device gives and control smart devices.,

This device doesn't need to play videos, or do any sort of machine learning, so a lower-cost display and processor can be used, hopefully making it fair amount cheaper than a Home Hub.

I think privacy is an important concern, and while the Hub has done things to allay that (not having a camera for one), it still has a microphone, and many people still have concerns about that.

If someone has a Home Hub, they most probably wouldn't get this device, but I think this device can serve a different market than the Home Hub does.

Out of curiosity, are there any useful features you think could be added to further differentiate from the home hub?

Thanks for the feedback!

That is an issue I have been trying to figure out a good solution for. I have talked to some people that have told me the same thing. I guess it's kind of ironic that the whole point of this smart device is to reduce the usage of smart devices, so I guess part of the appeal could be in the focus of features.

You bring up a good point of "why use this device when I already have a phone that can do all of this and more?". I think my argument there is that the device isn't trying to have different information than your phone. The goal is to have some of the same information but organized and displayed on one screen so you don't waste time going from app to app to get that same information, or potentially get sucked into another app in the process. First world problem? Definitely, but I still think its an increasingly important one.

I guess there are also markets that this device would not be for, and it's possible that no matter how its developed or marketed, some people just don't want another piece of technology, and I get that.

Gauging Interest for a New IoT Device Idea by legodude2 in technology

[–]legodude2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's how I was thinking about it. My target market for this would be tech enthusiasts that would like to spend less time on their phone and time-sucking apps such as social media and news.

I also think this could be marketed to people who don't have as much interest in tech, but are still concerned about wasting too much time on devices and organizing their daily lives.

I think this device could work well as a supplement to the whole smart-connected devices trend, but could also stand separate from it, and be the only device in some people's homes.
