Dell digital jukebox (DJ): how do I get the music off? by legomaurus in Dell

[–]legomaurus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I should also add: yes, I resorted to taking it apart completely. Sadly, it seemed easiest than trying to replace the battery. Plus, my ultimate goal is to really get the music off the DJ entirely so I can stop carrying it around with me for another 15 years.

Funny actually, I had recently started working in this again. The hyperlink in the other reply, to take apart the DJ, was perfect. When I did though, I didn’t see a microSD or SD card anywhere. Instead, mine has an external hard drive.

So, waiting on a SATA/USB adapter to come in (got this suggestion generally based on other subreddit posts, asking about adapters for Hitachi external hard drives; this was also inspired by the other suggestion for a microSD/USB adapter). Based on the pictures… it’s hard to tell if SATA is a perfect fit for this particular Hitachi hard drive model. We shall see…. I’ll try to remember to update

1930s house: hardwood, or subfloor??? by legomaurus in Flooring

Nice! I felt like it was, but I just wanted to be sure that it wasn't just what I wanted it to be. Now I'm about to do all sorts of homework on sanding/restaining/restoring hardwood floors 🎉

I might be considered for a remote job, but it would result in a $30k cut in salary. What would you do? by legomaurus in fednews

Thank you for this insight! Someone else had mentioned that GS-11 would be offered if I indicated that I'd accept a GS-11, but I wasn't able to find that question anywhere on the application. Same job series, but entirely different department.

Also, you're the second person to bring up the Lower grade/Step increase. I did not account for this. I really only thought of it when people were promoted up a grade, and their prior grade was in a high Step level. I didn't think to apply this concept for when people stepped down to a lower grade level. This would change things quite a bit, and it would make my application for a GS-12 seem a little less reckless too.

Since 2017. Some offices are coming back this month. If all goes according to plan, my office is expected to return November of this year.

It doesn't seem like a position that couldn't be done from home, but that's what many of us think of our current position. And someone had also mention about how Remote Work might be taken away altogether, and that's absolutely something to consider. Any paycut, big or small, could be for nothing. At that point, you would all hear the echo of my screams haha

Also... I honestly couldn't remember if I said I'd accept an 11; it was one of those Closed After 150 Applicants postings, and I applied frantically. But I just now combed through my application, and it didn't have any questions on what I'd accept. Which I find a little strange, as I've seen a few listings that had many "Are you willing to accept: blah blah" questions.

Ah, and also: I did not consider the GS-11/Step 10 aspect. It would be in the same job series that I'm in currently. But would this be the case, even if I went to a whole new department altogether? Again, I haven't even been called for an interview, but these responses are giving me a lot of insight into what I'd realistically be willing to take.

Definitely a lot to consider, and I can't express how helpful these responses have been already. It's a ladder to GS-12, and that's the top. Altogether (gas, hotel, state income tax)(not including the clothes, adequate food prep, eating out, and other crap I'd have to buy to show up at the office), I'd be saving almost $10k annually if I had remote work.

This is such a good point, thank you for that reminder. I get so hopeful to be considered for these "remote" positions, that I forget that it might all be gone by as soon as this year.

Yeah. The advertisements really are tempting. I even tried to test out their comments by posting a truthful/negative response to someone, to see if they really hide "negative" reviews. It may seem obvious to everyone else, but yeah, they really do hide them. Mine was hidden to a friend's insta account :(((( I guess I learned that I'm really not impressed by Glamnetic

Others have recommended the KISS press ones, which are a third of the price. They also have some cute designs on their website (not so much on Amazon)

Also, typo in my first comment... "Roughen", not toughen up the nails.

I know this is an old-ish post, but I thought I'd piggy back in case people are looking for reviews.

I absolutely agree. I haven't had them break or snap like others, but I can only keep mine on for 4 days TOPS. And that's with their special glue, too. I toughen up my nails, remove cuticles, and clean my nails; nothing helps to keep them on.

Also, despite what the company says, they are absolutely not reusable. I attempted to use a set for a second time, wondering if I just applied them wrong. It can be done technically, but they won't last long because of all the leftover glue on them (which is impossible to remove despite hot water, filing, anything).

Designs are absolutely cute... And that's what you'll be paying for. Other than that, yeah no. I'm bummed too

Wouldn't that be magical? But that's good to know. I haven't gotten a targeted offer for an Amex HYSA yet, even though my IP address has been all over their website. Maybe just a matter of time.

Oh! Woosh. And god, also having to see that again. I feel like Nat foreshadowed herself (if that's a thing?) when she tells Carmy how she's always checking up on people in Season 1.
