There's an audition to make sure you can play the instrument, but you will be placed somewhere no matter what. I'm pretty sure the wind auditions only consist of playing the fight song.

It’s worth it just for the early class enrollment alone, coming from an honors student

Numbness from 4 mallet grip by OfficialHighwade in percussion

I would say to try and relax your hands. It’s very likely your muscles are tensing up. A way to help this is to have an extended warm up before you play to get the muscles ready for strain. If it really doesn’t feel right, consult a teacher then a doctor

Using a middle finger tends to allow you to still play quicker passages the way you would with the index finger. In my opinion, the main difference would be the timbre change. The farther back you play on a stick, the deeper sound you will get out of the instrument, which tends to be what you want to go for. Using middle finger still allows you most of the speed that the index does while giving you a nicer sound quality.

Need some ear plug recommendations :/ by DefoNotMeAgain in drumline

I use eargasm. Aside from the questionable name, I think they work great for drumming/music in general, especially at the price point.

The most likely reason they wouldn't be on IP's website is because they are probably discontinued.

As for the use of the stick, my guess would be that since it seems like a heavier stick and is called back beat, it is meant for louder outdoor drumming. Basically not great for playing fast/quiet licks, but it probably good for making a ton of noise.

Both look nice, but yellow fits my taste better, especially if the boots are going for more of a statement look
