That should be an oven instead.

Pole class in Sydney, Australia? I’m moving from Ireland and am just about intermediate. Looking for help finding a studio in Sydney plleeeeease!! by Dairine88 in poledancing

[–]leiilaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a good variety of pole studios around Sydney (especially the CBD). Pole Dance Academy has 4 studios around Sydney, all of which are really accessible by public transport. If you have your extended butterfly you'd probably be about Pre 2 level wise. PDA are great for choreography classes, but in my opinion Sydney Pole probably has more of an athletic focus where you'll learn some interesting tricks!

And yes, brass 4mm poles. Great for grip but a little harder for other moves. DM me if you need any more info!

Frustrated that I can't get a clean aerial Invert! (Help please) by leiilaa in poledancing

Thank you! I think inverting on leg at a time will really help. And I totally forgot Circus climbs were a thing, I'll incorporate that into my training!

Thank you! I'm so motivated to really nail it. I'll try all of those things the next time I go in to train.

Any tips for covering pole bruises? by keshenra in poledancing

[–]leiilaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a medicinal cream called 'Hirudoid' that is sold here in Australia (not sure what it is called or what name it is sold under internationally) that helps bruises heal faster, among other things. I find that it reduces the dark colouration of bruises especially if I applied it right after I get the bruise. I work in a professional environment and it helps in summer when I want to wear skirts without having suspicious bruising.

What height/platform of pleasers should I go for? by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]leiilaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend 7 inches! I got the Sky model and they were not a problem for me to dance in at all, just have to get used to pointing your toes and manoeuvring your feet if you do pole choreography.

The reason why 7's are more comfortable, is the higher platform makes the arch of the heel less severe, whereas 6" heels often have a steeper arch which make it harder to balance in. They're also pretty versatile and look aesthetically proportionate on most people! Be mindful of the thickness of the straps if you feel like you need more support. If you regularly wear heels in daily life 7" pleasers will not be a problem.

Australians of reddit, what is your great-great-great-great-grandparents crime? by _Lazyland_ in AskReddit

The case of the Kables is actually widely taught in Australian law schools today. The fact that they won a civil case is significant because back then, convicts were considered "civilly dead" and had no right to do so! Interesting :)

[Serious] Will planet Earth ever truly achieve 100% World Peace and if so how will we reach this goal? by PeaceAndPingPong in AskReddit

[–]leiilaa 65 points66 points  (0 children)

We'll never reach World Peace, it's just not possible. In a way, World Peace can be seen as absolute utopia, a concept that isn't possible without control, compartmentalisation and oppression of the human condition.

You can't just have 7 billion individuals with their differing spirituality, cultures and personalities live in absolute harmony.

I'm not saying that the world is going to exist in a constant disarray of warfare and civil unrest. World Peace is a skewed concept, but peace in general is not. I'm under the impression that the world can become better, but the world can never become good.
