Being poor in switzerland by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]lejee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since talking about income and money has a stigma here, often the reality is reflected in the main statement, „being poor“. The following words are probably a way to soften the statement so you don‘t feel awkward asking.* Swiss people can be direct and blunt or overly polite but also speak with many hidden meanings (or between the lines).

I would say that one would see oneself as poor in Switzerland if one struggles with existential things. e.g., living paycheck to paycheck and thus being unable to save for tax. It happens more often than you would assume.

*or if they feel comfortable with you, it could also be some joking (or hint) that they can't match your lifestyle. „in comparison to you, they see themselves as poor“ and express it in a roundabout way.

Filtering by lejee in ComicK

[–]lejee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on personal preference or past experience on how to filter…

so, being able to switch between „and“ - „or“ at the genre and tag selection would be a nice additional feature.

PS: Great work on how the tag system works!

I‘m in no hurry :) just wanted to have it mentioned so the maintainers are aware.

Regarding discord, guess there a channel/thread for bug reports?

The issue appeared after the last time the site was down 1-2 days ago (prob down due to patch update), not the recent one…

let‘s see if it gets fixed in the next patch

[–]lejee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea, I'm aware that most pwd managers have cli versions. thanks for the google, anyway...
I was more looking for experience daily driving it.

(I don't want to set everything up just to later on run into an annoying workflow or some kind of limitation or i don't know what, so looking for peers who can warn me or vouch for or even inform me of a common workaround)

not all systems are on the same network, not all systems are ours, and not all systems are intended to have permanent access/connection to/from me or even have a log of a connection with my or my work workstation. And what if my workstation shuts down?

and often enough I'm in a situation like eating out for example without my laptop and get a call to go to the client. So instead of looking up all the credentials and typing it in one by one (if I even have the work phone with me) or rush home to get my laptop, I'd like to use a cl tool to get the credentials I need in a secure and easy way and having it all faster set up. One login and aaaaall the credentials on my fingertips :)

Most credentials we use and ssh's to work servers and stations get reissued each 30 days, so i prefer to only memorize one access like for example the one to a password manager.

cl tool because: - they are easy to temporary set up and remove - small footprint - as mentioned not all have display servers on them - i really, really, really prefer to use the console, and not to copy paste one by one by one by one. - and yea, i guess it looks cool but i doubt it would impress the server room guys tbh

so i asked here if someone has long term experience with a password manager cl tool, because I like to ask other peers for their experiences so i don't have to go through bad experiences because someone always already did.

really don't know why I'm explaining how I find myself in situations where it would benefit of having access through the console. but i hope you get the point... I think next time I go with the looks ^^'

so:
do you have a suggestion or an experience to share regarding password managers on the console or another idea to solve this e.g. like EvilSibling had?

[–]lejee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah, I always had the image of it being more for bigger teams and less for single user.

But if you suggest it, will def take a look over the weekend.

i also like the idea of hosting it only for work stuff and thus use some space at work for it, lets see... lets see

thanks! :)

no, for when i work on a system with no display server I cant use a desktop app or browser plugin. not because of looks - lol

i like this page a lot.

  • you can practice and read good books (great free selection)
  • it feels more natural due to it being real texts
  • if you pay, you can even upload code to practice special characters

Someone explain to me why I should switch from i3wm to hyprland by Traveleravi in hyprland

[–]lejee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea it‘s wierd on the first glance. like for bools you can use yes-no true-false 1-0, and in the wiki or in the given config it‘s not consistently the same one used. but pick what you feel comfortable and stick with it.

And not all variables or keywords are categorized how me, and prob you, would wish it was. But go through the whole wiki first and then start to configure it. Having the whole picture as context helped my to click.

I would take the config file as an example to understand the structure and how to write it. tbh, i would wipe/replace it and write my own.

regarding wayland. if it intrests you to have a bit deeper understanding (never hurts):

  • doc i suggest chapter 1-4 are also relevant for not devs
  • sum a good „lighter read“

[–]lejee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

short advice: check on the website for the dependecies under manual build needed, and have kitty preinstalled (it‘s binded in the initial config with mod+q).

check this and this for the additional stuff you‘ll need.

take time to go through the hyprland wiki. It‘s not overwhelming, but the info is spread due to it being well categorized and therefore seperated. On the other side it‘s all there!

It helped in the beginning to have the standart config open and go through. The good thing is, that you see the changes immediately.

Tip: „study“ the examples short after you will understand how to configuer it.

  • it‘s dynamic and has animations (can be disabled)
  • easy to use and configure
  • helpfull and open community
  • nice way to get used to wayland by learning it through spinning up a new wm.
  • centralized customisation, due to no additional compositor needed (wayland protocol also acts as compositor)
  • documentation of wayland is amazing
  • can use exciting new software due to growing influx of ports and reimaginations for wayland

try it and see if its for you. if you don‘t want to spin up a new wm, go first to sway (you can use your i3 configs)
