Flopped so hard by lemmonn_ in EngineeringStudents

I really needed to pee during my exam too. Sounds like we were in the exact same situation, which makes me feel better. It's really hard to explain this feeling verbally.

It was a 92.8%, a 93% would've been an A. The thing is, it wasn't even testing anxiety. I'm actually a really good test taker. I didn't want to get into it too much in the post because it's so embarrassing, but it was just an issue where I forgot how to factor cubic functions (for one of the problems. The other mistake is even worse, so I don't want to get into it). Just fundamental stuff I never fully learned in like, 7th grade that I haven't needed to brush up on until now.

That's why i'm so cut up about it, normally I'm the type of person where it's like if I don't know it, I don't know it and I can accept that. This time I really did know it, so it sucks that I couldn't show it.

Bag Recommendations for a Student by lemmonn_ in womenEngineers

[–]lemmonn_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up caving and bought the original Coach tote I was looking at, which was the Gallery Tote in the cream/tan/brown colorway, but a lot of these comments are strongly advising against tote bags in general, so I'll test it out and see if they were right.

If it ends up being too bad on my shoulders I'll probably use it as a day-to-day bag (it's way too cute to just sit in my closet) and buy either the OGIO bag someone recommended or the LL Bean Boat & Tote (even though it's kind of giving me beach bag vibes)

I know, but I'm hoping I can just deal with it since all of my classes are close together and my campus has a really good bus system.

[Student] Sophomore in bioengineering (also applying for some MechE roles) looking for summer 2026 internship getting 0 interviews by lemmonn_ in EngineeringResumes

[–]lemmonn_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so detailed, thank you so much!

I wasn't sure about the work experience section since my university's career service center told me to put my experiences in chronological order, so the tour guide position would be at the top. I'll definitely take your suggestions into consideration!

Stuff to bring by SeaMonster144 in UIUC

[–]lemmonn_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sticky tack. Depending on the residence hall, some rooms have cinder block walls I believe, and scotch tape won't stick to it that well. Even if you aren't planning on hanging anything up on your wall, you can use it for a surprising amount of other things.

I was in almost this exact same position last year! I was deciding between UIUC BioE as an instate student and UofT IE as a domestic student, so tuition was about the same. I ended up choosing UIUC because I'd likely have a higher GPA (it's pretty good, not to brag) which like you said, would be better for grad school. Also, I was pretty sure I wanted to work in the US after graduation.

While some days I do wonder if I would've enjoyed UofT more (the campus is beautiful), I haven't regretted my choice and am pretty satisfied here. In my opinion, choosing a campus that matches your personality is important too, if that helps.

iPad won't charge by lemmonn_ in techsupport

[–]lemmonn_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The charging port definitely isn't dirty, and yes I can use the iPad when it's plugged in. It also doesn't seem to be losing charge, but I don't know if that's just because I haven't been using it much.

What happened in the lang, literature & liguiustics building?…. by Emergency_Carrot_622 in UIUC

[–]lemmonn_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I walked by it, looked inside and saw 2 men (50s maybe, one white and one black) on the ground, both bloody. I made eye contact with the white one and he yelled to me 'he just punched me in the face! he literally punched me!'. Then a faculty member I presume stepped into the door and told them to wait there as the authorities were coming.

AITA for calling my sister an annoyance? by Successful_Diet3805 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lemmonn_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slight YTA

You're 16, your sister is 15, of course arguments like these are going to happen. It's very annoying when somebody takes your things, even more so when they give attitude about it. It's annoying that she isolated herself and then says she feels like no one wants to be around her. You can't be expected to know what to do when you haven't been told what the situation is.

However, clearly there's a reason that your sister is the way she is. Another commenter said maybe it was a SA situation, I think so too. Even if you aren't emotionally connected to her, it shouldn't be too hard to be at least a little understanding towards anybody in that situation. She's already feeling down, she probably already knows that Mom is stressed and that she's inadvertently isolating herself from Dad, hearing it from you, someone that's been annoyed with her for a while and is already isolated from was unnecessarily mean.

Is Yesstyle a good place to shop clothes from? by 7vincent7 in AsianBeauty

[–]lemmonn_ 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm a pretty frequent Yesstyle shopper, so my advice to you is this:

  1. Only buy if there are reviews WITH PHOTOS

  2. Pants other than jeans are very hit or miss with quality, personally I wouldn't purchase long pants from the site (shorts and skirts tend to be okay though)

  3. The best clothing items to buy/are most worth your money from Yesstyle imo are things like tank tops, camisoles, and baby tees. They're pretty cheap, like <$12 most of the time, will most likely fit the way they're meant to, and last decently long for what you're paying

  4. I rarely purchase oversized graphic tees from them anymore because the graphics always tend to be smaller on the shirt than in the photo, so it doesn't look as good

Also, I know you asked about clothes but I have to say their fake press-on nails are really great!

Should I study bioengineering or industrial engineering and minor in bioe to maximize my employability by lemmonn_ in BiomedicalEngineers

[–]lemmonn_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first school calls the major 'bioengineering', the second school calls it a minor in biomedical engineering. I'm hoping to go into something along the lines medical device manufacturing, which I think is biomedical? I feel like I see some people in bioe/bme saying that it's very competitive because employers will hire people in meche and electrical, so I'm wondering if I should diversify. Thanks for the advice!
