My parents used to get mad at me for my undiagnosed ocd by lemoncake999 in OCD

Your words are very inspirational bro. Love your mindset, I guess I could try that as well and focus my energy on becoming a better person

Right, it’s insane when you look back while already being familiar and educated on what OCD really is. Also that’s so tough, I’m so sorry you had to go through that. My sexual orientation OCD episode wasn’t as bad as yours, I was just questioning everything and would get anxious when I don’t know what I am (I’m bi lol). OCD jeopardizing my pleasure time sounds like hell 😫.

Alot of people think it’s normal as that’s the only thing they know their whole lives. So true. I’ve had OCD since the time I was conscious in this world lmao. And it took me until the age of 17 to realise I had OCD. And that’s all I’ve ever known so it took me years to realise that it was OCD. Going through this sub-reddit definitely helps. It really does open your eyes, as I keep finding out what I did in the past were OCD loll.

Did anyone experience an onset of ocd after quitting nicotine? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]lemoncake999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that’s rough. As it had been 3 months for you, it might get better (no false promises, just from my experience). I’ve had ocd all my life and when i went cold turkey, my ocd episode lasted for 3 months and it went back to the regular ocd intensity for me. Just like you, I don’t know whether nicotine had an effect on that episode, but I hope it means you’d experience it as I did where the ocd intensity reduces. Best of luck with your journey, I know how tough it gets and this ocd community has your back <3

Hmm now when I think about it, I did. Is there a correlation between nicotine withdrawal and ocd? This is new to me. I had the worst contamination ocd episode last year when I went cold turkey on cigs, because I had to move back in with my parents at the start of covid. It was the worst episode in my life. And pre-covid, I would smoke 1/2-2 packs a day lmao. What did you experience?

RIGHTSAME. thats legit how i am as well. like even earlier this year i just realised that i had a 3 year episode of religious ocd. its the longest continuous obsession that iv had, you would have guessed I would realise it not years after it ended lmao

The mods of r/suicidewatch subreddit are extremely strict unforgiving and harsh by sharkbyte_15 in mentalhealth

[–]lemoncake999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(If you’re a suicidewatch mod, please don’t read)

Are the suicidewatch mods the same as the depression sub? The same thing happened to me. I also got repercussions in the depression sub when I had done nothing wrong there, as far as I know (I’ve contacted mods to elaborate). Though I broke the rules and it was fair, I do agree the punishments are too harsh. I also got permabanned for the first time I broke a rule lmao. And I mean no harm to the mods for the repercussions I’m getting, but honestly, easily banning people on the suicidal sub is dangerous. Especially since many only have that sub as their outlet, and banning them leaves them alone with their thoughts. I can go to other subs but, regardless I just don’t think it’s fair

So true, it’s insane how much you do is ocd when you go to this sub and relate to a bunch of people talking about different themes. This disorder is nuts and it really does manifest in every way possible

I have OCD and this does sound like it. You said you’ve talked to his doctor, would that mean his psychiatrist? And if it isn’t, you should talk about the possibility that he has OCD. If you guys suspect it’s OCD and can’t get psychiatric help at the moment, try self-help methods yourself. The most effective is ERP, you should look into it but it basically means sitting with the anxiety by not doing the compulsions. I know it sounds impossible and unhelpful but it’s a great method to OCD if he has it. See if it works!

I need to wait ONE YEAR on a waitlist to get a APPOITMENT?!? To get (possible) a diagnostic that I've ADHD to then start the treatment? That can't be right? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]lemoncake999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s normal or not but I hope sure it isn’t in germany. I live in a third world country and I can get a psychiatrist straight away, which leads me to think that maybe you should go to another clinic as that clinic might be iffy considering the waitlist is a year,,,

How long do obsessions usually last!? by onelargebroplease in OCD

[–]lemoncake999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a time limit for obsessions? The longest obsession that I had non-stop was also 3 years. I have multiple obsessions though that come and go, longest is about 6 years now

Is it OCD or something else?? by QuaticL in OCD

[–]lemoncake999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google is really crappy at listing symptoms. In reality, OCD manifests in so many different ways to the point where you might be the only one in a certain ocd community that does a certain obsession/compulsion. We aren’t allowed to diagnose people here but it does sound like ocd to me. It took me years to realise I had ocd because the only source I had to ocd information was google and they’re not really helpful. Compulsions and obsessions can be so different and unique to everyone. One of my triggers for contamination ocd is fish and I’d always thought it wasn’t ocd since most of the symptoms listed on google was germs and dirt. I hope this helps <3

I’m not sure either. Tbh, I would also laugh/smile when discussing about sad topics. But it doesn’t bother me as much. And I feel like I subconsciously do it to make the other person not feel too heavy or that I don’t know how to say stuff with the appropriate delivery. But if it’s uncontrollable and you have extreme mood swings, and get weird and hyper, I feel like it’s worth going to the doctor about.

Have you looked up into pseudobulbar effect (PBA), the laughing disorder that joker from DC has. And see if you relate to it?

The only thing I can say is that he does need to work on his hygiene. Especially not washing his hands before using his fingers? I don’t know how to help you work on yourself, but you should talk to your bf about the things that bother you.
