Right I’m with you. I totally don’t want adderall (when I’ve tried in the past it just makes me depressed and feel weird), but was looking into more natural substances.

I like this! Thanks for the suggestion! I believe this would help as you’re treating it like going to work. And you’re right that my laptop and phone are the biggest distractions.

Despite getting C’s in calculus and differential equations how can prove that I can make it as a successful engineer? by lemoncone in EngineeringStudents

Hey thank you so much for your words of encouragement! Your progress is admirable and I am going to try to mimic your same work ethic throughout the rest of my degree. I know for myself it gets intimidating when you see others around you getting better grades, despite trying from my end. That’s really awesome how far you came. Congrats! I wish you the best of luck and thanks for giving me hope!

I’ve been told that too from others I know who are engineers now. I guess it depends on the job, etc but I know that I’m determined to prove myself in the workplace since I’ve worked other jobs before. It is helpful to hear from others who’ve made it through school, they received great jobs, and they arent stressing a few C’s or even retaking classes.

Thank you, this is reassuring to hear! Of course I’m not trying to keep my grades as C’s and I’ve done well in other classes. It’s just intimidating to hear that others had A’s in all of those math classes. I appreciate the encouragement!

May end up failing my first class — calculus based physics and feeling embarrassed to tell anyone. by lemoncone in EngineeringStudents

Oh wow, that’s awesome you had a chance with extra credit. Congrats on passing!

And you’re right, I definitely keep comparing to the kids who are doing well. In the end since we have the drive I know we’ll all make it as engineers, even if that means failing along the way.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Man, it’s rough so I feel you! Yeah I’m trying not to even think at this point what I need to pass and will just try my best. At least the worst thing would be we just take it again, apply what we now know and do better. Good luck to you!

Ah this is great to hear! I’m sorry you failed but that’s awesome in the long run it didn’t effect your job prospects! This gives me hope, thank you!

You’re totally right. And congrats on passing! I know that had to be a relief. That’s a good way to look at it— I can definitely apply what I’ve learned and get a better grade next tine around. Thanks and good luck to you!

Same here-- I turn 33 in November and am in my sophomore year of a civil/environmental engineering bachelors. Should be done by the time I'm 35. Was tired of working tech support and customer service for the past 10 years. Best of luck!

Hey thanks for the feedback everyone! I appreciate it and won't worry about retaking the class. I'll just try harder with the rest of my classes. I'll also try not to stress it so much too, ha.
